Connie Lou (Heydt) Krueger1955-2012
Connie Lou Krueger, 57, died at her home on Friday, May 11, 2012, of
complications of pneumonia.
Connie was born on Feb. 22, 1955, to parents Calvin and Phyllis (Nemitz)
Heydt. She was a loving sister to Nancy (Dick) Nelson of Charles City,
Iowa, Garth (Karen) Heydt of Hutchinson, Minn., and Jodi Heydt of Austin,
Minn., and loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Connie lived in
Sargeant, Minn., for two years before moving to Austin, Minn. where she
graduated high school in 1973. She attended Rochester Community College
and graduated with a nursing degree. She worked as a registered nurse at
St. Marys Hospital in neurology for 34 years before retiring in 2010.
On June 21, 1980, Connie married Rickey G. Krueger at Homestead United
Methodist Church in Rochester. He survives. The couple made their home in
Wabasha, Minn., until moving to Rochester in 1981. They remained residents
of Rochester until her death.
Connie was an ardent caregiver and lover of animals of all kinds. She
was devoted to her family and career and constantly put the needs of others
above her own. Connie had a beautiful and generous spirit that she willingly
shared with all who entered her life. She will be dearly missed.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Steven.
Visitation will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home
in Rochester on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service
will be held at Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester on Wednesday, May 16, 2012,
at 11 a.m. with the Rev. C. John Steer officiating. Visitation will take
place from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Grandview
Memorial Gardens.

Stanley A. Kuhl1918-2012
MASON CITY - Long- time Mason City resident Stanley A. Kuhl, 93, died
peacefully Saturday, May 5, 2012, while in the comforting arms of his family.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, at Major
Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with the Rev. Keith
Scott, Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating.
There will be no visitation. Inurnment will take place in the Bear
Creek Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grand Meadow, Minnesota.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or North Iowa Humane

He was born in Lansford, N.D., on June 23, 1918, to parents Clara
(Hanson) and George Kuhl. Stanley's father died at age 28 on December 24,
1918, during a flu pandemic when Stanley was only six months old. Stanley's
mother moved the family back to Grand Meadow, Minn., where her family
resided in town and on surrounding farms. She was assisted by family
members, most notably Mabel and Elvin Hanson, with raising Stanley and
his siblings. In a sense, Stanley was raised by "the village of Hanson"
during the Great Depression. He gained his great love of horses while
working on family farms during his childhood and young adult years.
After graduating from Grand Meadow High School in 1936, Stanley attended
Mankato State Teacher's College. He was a football quarterback known for his
running skill. While at college, Stanley met his future wife, Marian Roos,
who lived with her family in Mankato. When World War II began, Stanley
joined the U.S. Army, ultimately earning the rank of captain. Since Stanley
had prior civilian aviation experience, the Army Air Corps assigned him to
train bomber pilots and bombardiers at Texas military bases. Before going
to Texas, Stanley and Marian married on Jan. 18, 1942, in Richfield, Minn.
After the war, Stanley's family returned to Mankato where he finished
college. They moved to Mason City in 1947 to work in the Mason City schools.
Stanley would go on to receive his Master's Degree in school administration
from Mankato State. He taught industrial arts, coached athletic teams, and
attained leadership as principal of Roosevelt Junior High. He was the
Roosevelt principal for 18 years until his retirement in 1984. Stanley
greatly enjoyed the students, teachers, and administrators in the Mason
City School System. He always looked forward to the school day.
Stanley is survived by sister-in-law Berniece (Taylor) Kuhl; children
Steven (Sandra) of Blaine, Minn., Larry (Mardiann) of Mason City, Lynne
Smith (Robin) of Mill Valley, Calif., and Scott (Mary Jo Peterson) of
Mason City; four nieces, two nephews, nine grandchildren, and 13
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by beloved wife Marian Margaret Ann
Roos, his parents, brother Harold Kuhl (Cannon Falls, Minn.) sister
Alice Colman (Renton, Wash.) Aunt Mabel (Skaran) Hanson and Uncle Elvin
Hanson (both of Grand meadow, Minn.), and four nephews.

Lynn J. Persinger, 831928-2012
Lynn J. Persinger, 83, of Austin, Minnesota, died Saturday afternoon,
May 5, 2012, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea, Minn.
Lynn was born on Aug. 19, 1928, in Sac City, Iowa, the son of Lynn
Taylor and Elma Mae (Howard) Persinger. When Lynn was a child, the family
moved to the Waltham, Minnesota area. He attended school in the Waltham area
and later attended Austin High School. On Oct. 25, 1946, he was united in
marriage to Carol June Rendall in Rochester, Minnesota. Lynn was involved in
many business pursuits including hauling milk, driving truck and owned
and operated Persinger Webb, a gas station in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.
He then began working in the farm implement business, first at Waltham
Implement before moving to Albert Lea where he worked at Erlandson Implement.
In 1971, the couple moved to Austin where Lynn started Persinger
Implement, a John Deere dealership. He retired in 1987 and moved to
Walker, Minn., spending his time on Leech Lake for 20 years. He returned
to Austin to live, spending his winters in Mesa, Ariz. and recently had
moved to the Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea. Lynn was a
member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed attending large
family gatherings, traveling, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, and
hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Persinger of Austin; four children,
Sandra (Andy Douglas) Perleberg of Waukegan, Illinois, Diana (Dennis)
Oakland of Albert Lea, Nancy (Philip) Wallin of Glenville and Steve (Diane)
Persinger of Austin; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Maggie) Persinger of
Lakewood, Colorado; two sisters, Shirley (Delmar) Harvey of Ocala,
Florisa, and Mary (David A.) Hoeft of Rochester, Minnesota; many nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael Lynn
Persinger in 2006 and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin with Pastor Michael Olmsted
officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in
Austin. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 8 at the
Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church
on Wednesday. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.

Robert L. Satern 1928-2012

Date Of Death: May 10, 2012
Robert L. "Bob" Satern, age 83, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on
Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Comforcare Good Samaritan Society.
Bob was born November 20, 1928 in Rodman, Iowa to Thorston and
Vivian (Sloan) Satern. He met the love of his life, Colleen Bissen
after racing to a house fire in Adams, Minnesota. On August 25, 1951,
they were married in Norfolk, Virginia, a union lasting over 60 years.
Bob joined the U. S. Navy in 1948, proudly serving aboard the USS
Taconic. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1952, Bob attended
vocational school to study auto mechanics. He also went to work for the
George A. Hormel Company in 1952, working for 39 years.
Bob was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. He
was also a member of the American Legion for 60 years, the V.F.W., and
the Knights of Columbus. Bob volunteered with the Austin Auxiliary
Police and as an instructor with the American Red Cross. In 2005 Bob
and Colleen were crowned the Senior King and Queen of the Austin 4th of
July parade.
He enjoyed travel, gardening, wood crafts, playing cards and was a
fan of the Minnesota Twins. A highlight of his younger years was
driving a float pulled by six black and white ponies in the 1963
Milwaukee Circus Day parade. Bob's daughters always thought their dad
was an inventor. He could modify pretty much anything to work the way
he wanted it to, always trying to build a better mouse trap. With his
ingenuity and scraps of lumber, he made gocarts, skateboards, stilts and
many other fun things for his girls.
One of Bob's favorite summer past times was camping with his
family. He always enjoyed playing guitar and singing campfire songs.
With the arrival of the grandkids, Grandpa spent many hours with them
around the campfire playing guitar and teaching them his favorite
songs. Another memory the grandkids cherish was the time spent with
Grandpa in his workshop, building and painting their projects.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Colleen (Bissen) Satern,
Austin; seven daughters, Cathy Satern (life partner Ann Godfrey),
Minneapolis, Carol/Coco (James) deLongpre, Rochester, Julie (Terry)
Thomas, Mason City, IA, Janie (Rick) Fallon, Glendale, AZ, Mary (Jesse)
Hyland, Austin, Margie (Tony) Nelson, Austin, Nancy (Dave) Pries,
Cottage Grove; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lucy, his
beloved MinPin dog mourns his loss. Bob is also survived by three
sisters, two brothers, sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 15, 2012
at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. There will be a 6 pm wake service
on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4-7 pm and
also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment
will take place 11:00 am on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Calvary Cemetery
with military rites by American Legion Post #91 and V.F.W. Post #1216.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Queen of Angels
Catholic Church or the American Diabetes Association.

James Stiehl Mills1967-2012
The memorial service for James “Jimmy” (Stiehl) Mills will be at 1 p.m.
Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St., in Albert Lea,
Minnesota. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
Jimmy passed away on Saturday May, 5, 2012. He was 44 years old.
Jimmy was born on December 4, 1967, in Austin, Minnesota. The son of
Dale and Barbara (Berkholtz) Stiehl, he attended Albert Lea High School.
Jimmy lived in Austin, Albert Lea and Slayton before settling down in
Northwood, Iowa. On July 1, 1995, Jimmy married Pattie Pierce in Northwood.
Jimmy worked at Brown Printing in Waseca for more than 10 years. He loved
fixing cars, snowmobiling, motorcycles, the outdoors, camping and fishing,
but above all, he loved spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed his
yearly snowmobile trip with friends as well as long trips on the motorcycle
with his son-in-law, family and friends.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald “Ron” Stiehl; and
grandparents: Lois Stiehl and Robert (Ann) Birkholtz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pattie Mills; parents: Dale and
Barbara (Berkholtz) Stiehl; step-daughter, Jackie (Tom) Richardson;
grandchildren: Austin and Colton Richardson; sister, Toni (Perry)
Carlson; brother, Jeffery “Spanky” Stiehl; nieces and nephews; other
loving relatives; and many special friends.

Shirley May (Klingfus) FLINK1927-2012
#1:
Shirley M. Flink, 84, of rural Rose Creek, Minnesota, died peacefully on
Sunday afternoon, May 6, 2012, surrounded by her family at her home after
a courageous battle with cancer.
Shirley May Klingfus was born September 30, 1927, in Austin, Minnesota,
to Walter and Dorothy (Noble) Klingfus. She attended school in Austin. She
also attended Normal Training in Austin to become a teacher. Shirley taught
school for seven years in Freeborn and Mower County country schools. When
country schools closed, she got a job at Baldy’s Bank in Rose Creek and
worked there for 17 years. On Dec. 22, 1946, Shirley married John P. Flink
at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. To this union were born five
children: John, Jerry, Jay, Jim, and Sherry May. As a family, they enjoyed
fishing, camping and sightseeing. Shirley was an active member of Grace
Lutheran Church, and she loved gardening, cooking and canning.
Survivors include her husband, John Flink of rural Rose Creek; five
children, John W. Flink of rural Austin, Jerry (Sunnee) Flink of Austin,
Jay (Deb) Flink and James (Joyce) Flink, both of Albert Lea, Sherry May
Senne of Red Wing; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two
step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Roger
Anderson, Harley (Jan) Flink; sister-in-law, Charlene (Gene) Gerber;
nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorothy
and two sisters, Donna Hatfield and Ethel Anderson.

Garth W. Seavey1938-2012
Garth W. Seavey, 74, of Austin, Minnesota, died on Sunday, May 6, 2012,
at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Garth Wayne Seavey was born on May 3, 1938, to Clifford and Opal (Ellis)
Seavey in Austin. He graduated from Austin High School in 1956. He then
served in the United States Navy stationed in Adak, Alaska and Portland,
Maine. Upon earning his honorable discharge from the Navy he attended Austin
Community College.
Garth worked for the Mower County Soil and Conservation Department and
spent most of his career as an engineer for the Milwaukee Road. He also
owned Seavey’s Standard Station and Seavey Realty. He was a hardworking
and intelligent business man who operated with integrity and character.
Garth married Jeanne Erickson on June 25, 1960, and they were married
for 52 wonderful years. Together, Garth and Jeanne brought three daughters
and one son into the world. Garth was a devoted family man who loved his
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all of his extended
family. He looked forward to family gatherings and could be counted on to
make sure everyone had a good laugh.
Garth was also a good athlete and relished all of the fun with his
friends playing football, hockey, broomball, softball and golf. His
friends and neighbors were very important to him and he talked about
them with great joy. Despite some physical hardships later in life, he
had an incredibly positive attitude that inspired and encouraged people.
After his family and friends, Garth’s greatest love was the outdoors;
he absolutely loved to hunt and fish. He was an adventurer who always wanted
to portage into that next lake or hike into that remote spot. He was a
dreamer and was always talking about his next adventure and places he
might explore. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clifford and Opal; brother,
Gerald; and a daughter, Nancy.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne; daughters Laurie Brown and Kristine
(Jason) Louks; son Kevin Seavey; grandchildren Curtis (Rebecca) Seavey,
Matthew Seavey, Morgan (Jordan) Lopez, Dylan Brown, Taylor Brown, Olivia
Louks, Alexandra Louks and Lauren Louks; and great-granddaughter Elizabeth
Seavey. Blessed be his memory.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 10 at St. Olaf
Lutheran Church in Austin, Minn. with Pastor Paul Hauschild officiating.
Interment will be at the Lansing Cemetery, Lansing, Minn., with Austin
Post #91 American Legion in charge of military rites. Visitation will be
held for one hour before the service at the church in Thursday. Clasen-Jordan
Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary bearers will be Curtis Seavey, Matthew Seavey, Dylan Brown, Jim
Erickson, Dave Hall, Brad Erickson, and Doug Seavey.

Marjorie V. Lindsley1913-2012
Marjorie V. “Marge” Lindsley, 98, of Espanola, New Mexico, passed
away Friday, May 4, 2012.
Marjorie was born in Austin, Minnesota, on May 23, 1913, to Earl L. and
Nellie Jennings Lindsley. She graduated from St. Augustine’s High School,
then St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn., and became a
registered nurse in the states of Minnesota and New Mexico. She moved to
New Mexico in 1947 and was active in many nurse activities. She was office
nurse for Doctor Ziegler in Espanola for many years. She worked at St.
Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.
Soon after she arrived to New Mexico she served on the selective service
board and the Board of Nursing at the Community College in Espanola. Marjorie
was insurance examiner for several companies and committee member on the
White House Conference for aging. She taught at the school of practical
nursing at McCurdy School and was active in various areas of the Espanola
Hospital Auxillary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nelle Lindsley;
brother, Dr. Earl L. Lindsley and wife Mary Ellen Lindsley. She is
survived by her nephew, Earl Lindsley and wife Vicky of Tucumcari;
great-nephews, Earl L. Lindsley IV of Las Vegas, N.M., and Sean Lindsley
of Denver, Colorado; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Public visitation was held 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, in the Chapel
of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited
at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, May
8, 2012, at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cańada.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be: Joe Trujillo, Herman Salazar
and Phil Maestas; honorary pallbearers: Dr. Joe Tubb and Manuel C. Montoya.
Burial will take place out of state. The family of Marjorie V. “Marge”

Dale Leon Fodness, 651947-2012
Dale Leon Fodness, 65, died May 3, 2012.
Dale was born April 29, 1947, in Staples, Minnesota, to Marvin and Pearl
Fodness. The family moved to Austin, Minnesota, where Dale graduated from
Austin High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Marines in 1966 and served
in Vietnam until 1970. After an honorable discharge, Dale went to work as
a union carpenter for more than 40 years.
He married Judy Loewen in 1973, and later moved to Apache Junction,
Arizona. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and fishing.
Dale is survived by family members in Arizona, including his wife, Judy;
sons, Jason and Joshua; daughter, Cindy Shafer; stepson, Eric Marks;
brothers, David Fodness of Austin and Robin (Georgia) of Texas; sister,
Jackie (Fodness) Allen of Wisconsin; stepbrothers, Merlin (Pat) Kingen
of Arizona and Nathan (Carol) Kingen of Texas; stepsisters, Karen (Bert)
Kingen Bridgeman of Austin and Judy Kingen of Austin.
Dale was preceded in death by his mother and father; step-sisters Dorthy

David E. Brown 1930-2012
David E. Brown, 81, of Brownsdale, Minnesota, died on Thursday, May 10,
2012, at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield, Minnesota.
David was born on August 21, 1930, to Adolph and Agnes Brown in rural
Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from Rose Creek High School in 1948.
David married Alice Soucek at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rose Creek.
They farmed together in Windom Township, Austin, until moving to Brownsdale
in 1979. David drove a semi and was a carpenter as well as a farmer. He
enjoyed his carpentry but was a true farmer at heart. David was a member
of Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Brownsdale and the Eagles Club
in Austin. Playing golf was a favorite past time of his. He loved to visit
with family and friends, who will miss him.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alice, Brownsdale; daughters,
Barb (Fred) Polzin, Elysian, Bonnie (Russ) Nelson, Austin; son, Bernie
Brown, North Mankato, Minn.; grandchildren, Anna (Adam) Brett, Jennifer
(Brian) Cristallo, Stephanie Polzin (fiance Josh Ferkovich), Nick Polzin
(fiancee Kjelsey Kluge), Alex Nelson (fiancee Kim Dietrich), Zach Nelson,
Megan Brown (fiance Kevin Hanly), Bradly Brown, Michael Brown; four
great-grandchildren, Abby, Avery, Carson, Brody; sister, Irene (Joe)
Schammel; sister-in-law, Barb Soucek; many nieces, nephews, cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Frank and Anna
Soucek.

Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Brownsdale with Father Dale Tupper
officiating. There will be a 7 p.m. wake service on Saturday at Mayer
Funeral Home where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. and also one hour
before the service at the church on Sunday. Interment will be in Calvary
Cemetery.

Joseph Ronald William BECKON 1935-2012
Joseph R.W. Beckon, 76, of Austin, died at his home on Tuesday, May
8, 2012.
Joseph Ronald William Beckon was born on June 16, 1935, in a Buddhist
Temple in Honan Province, China, to missionary parents Oscar and Sylvia
(Severson) Beckon. He lived in China until he was 16 years old and moved
to the United States. Joe married Nancy in 1975. Joe and Nancy lived in
Texas for 25 years before moving to Austin 10 years ago. An accomplished
woodworker, Joe built his lake home in Texas and remodeled his home in
Austin. Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy Beckon, Austin; daughters: Kelli
(Randy) Messerly, Manchester, Iowa, Lynda Teichroew, Des Moines, Iowa,
Julie Hartson (Ed Horne), Sargeant, Minn., Leanne (David) Clasen, Austin,
Cheryl Hartson (Wayne Atkinson), Los Angeles; 16 grandchildren; one
great-granddaughter; one brother and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at
Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Shari Mason officiating. Interment

William Lee Sweetser 1944-2012

Funeral services for William “Bill” Sweetser will be 1 p.m. Monday May
14, 2012, at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ann Siverling
officiating. Burial will be in the LeRoy Cemetery. Visitation will be held
Sunday, May 13, 2012, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand
Meadow and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bill Sweetser, age 67, died unexpectedly Wednesday May 9, 2012 at his
home.
William Lee “Bill” Sweetser was born November 30, 1944, in Austin,
Minn. to Charles and Ione (Erie) Sweetser. He attended grade school in the
country schools in Bennington Township and attended High School in Grand
Meadow graduating in 1962. While in high school Bill was active in wrestling
and high school speech contests, reciting the Gettysburg Address for the
Grand Meadow Memorial Day Program. After his graduation he started farming
with his parents. Bill continued farming until the time of his death.
Bill wrote the article “Sweetser’s Small Farmer Talk” which ran in the
local news papers he was a member of Toastmasters and served as chairmen
of the Bennington Township Board, he also served as chairmen for the Rural
Fire Association for Bennington Township. Bill also enjoyed spending time
with his family and his neighbors.
He is survived by one brother, Ken Sweetser of Austin, two sisters
Mary Sweetser of Rochester, and Rose Holmen & (Special friend Scott
Anderson) of Austin, a niece, Susan Tischer and a nephew Sam Sweetser
both of Austin.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles in 1993 and his mother
Ione in 1997.

Helen M. (Ulwelling) Budd, 93, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed
away Friday morning, May 11, 2012, at Golden Living Center East in
Rochester, Minnesota.
Helen Marguerite Ulwelling was born July 28, 1918, to Henry and Sadie
(Sathre) Ulwelling in Austin. Helen married Gerald P. Budd on June 7,
1938, and the couple moved around the country during the war. They moved
back to Austin in 1946 and Helen was the bookkeeper in Gerald’s plumbing
service for many years.
The Budds moved to Ball Club, Minnesota in 1965, when they bought
the Ball Club Lake Lodge. Following Gerald’s death on February 14, 1989,
Helen moved to Rochester in 1990. Helen was involved in the Boy Scouts
for many years while her sons were active in the Scouts. For many years,
she was an active Twins fan and loved playing bingo. While in Austin,
Gerald and Helen were well known for their Halloween parties.
Survivors include her son, Warren (Laurel) Budd, Rochester, Minnesota;
five grandsons; one granddaughter; 12 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; many nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her husband, Gerald, she is preceded in death by her son,
Roger.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012, at
St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. Friends
may call one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will
be in Calvary Cemetery.
The casket bearers will be Crystal Budd Opse, Sterling Budd, Keith Budd,
Garrett Budd, Kenneth Laskewitz and Randy Laskewitz.

Mildred Duffy, 84, formerly of Austin, Minnesota, died on Wednesday,
May 9, 2012, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mildred was born November 17, 1927, in Lake Crystal, Minnesota, to David
and Minda Christianson. She graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1947.
Mildred married Robert Aukes on June 23, 1951. They had two children. They
divorced in March 1961. On April 25, 1987, Mildred married Clarence Duffy.
She described Duffy as the love of her life.
Mildred worked as a factory laborer, housekeeper and nanny until she
retired. She loved being with her family and friends. Mildred enjoyed
traveling with her husband, Duffy, cooking, baking, gambling and playing
cards.
Survivors include her son, Greg Aukes, Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter and
son-in-law, Sheila Aukes and Dave Funk, Runnells, Iowa; grandchildren,
Amelia and Zachary Funk; four stepchildren, Barbara Bressler, Stillwater,
Joanne (Paul) Nesse, Prescott, Wisconsin, Rick Duffy, Austin, Patti (Kevin)
Weber, Shoreview; other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; parents; four
brothers; one sister.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012,
at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. There

Marjorie Leone Geraghty Voecks1927-2012

Marjorie Leone Geraghty Voecks, 84, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012,
in San Jose, California.
She was born in St. Peter, Minnesota, on July 26, 1927. Marjorie graduated
and was Homecoming Queen at Austin High School in 1945, and earned her
Nursing Degree at Chicago Hospital. After retirement Marge and Floyd moved
to Goodyear, Arizona, in May 1998. In August 2012 Marge moved back to San
Jose, Calif. to be near her family.
Marge was a master bridge player. She really enjoyed playing bridge and
mahjong with her friends at Pebblecreek in Arizona. She was the ultimate
hostess and loved having guests over to her home, especially for St.
Patrick’s Day. She was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Voecks; father,
Thomas Geraghty; mother, Edna Geraghty; and brothers, Maurice, Edmond,
Patrick and Michael.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Sharon) Voecks; daughter, Pamela
(Greg) Gaan; three grandchildren, Robert (Kechina) Edwards, Christine
(Brad) Hanson and Sandra (Jon) McNair; and four great-grandchildren,
Harmony, Declan, Phoebe and Lilly.
Marge will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Austin, Minn. The
date is to be determined.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Jerome A. Wesely 1926-2012
Jerome (Jerry) A. Wesely, 85, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at St. Marys
Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Jerry was born December 17, 1926, in Steele County to Frank and Mary
(Simeck) Wesely. Jerry attended and graduated from Owatonna High School.
On May 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Wavrin at Sacred
Heart Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. Jerry and Jane had four children.
Jerry worked for Northwestern Bell for 38 years in various towns in
Southeastern Minnesota. On Sept. 4, 2003, Jerry was united in marriage
to Georgia (Dolly) Thiele. They had resided in Austin, Minnesota, until
his death.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles and gardening.
After Jerry retired he opened a bicycle shop called “The Red Barn”.
Survivors include his wife (Dolly); two sons, Charles (Eunice) and Allan
(Nancy) of Austin; two daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) Thiele of North Mankato,
Minnesota and Elaine Wesely of Albert Lea, Minnesota; stepsons, Jerome
(Chris) Thiele of Medesto, California, and Gaylon (Ann) Thiele of Victoria,
Minnesota; sisters, Genevieve Keller, Dorothy Schoenert and Mary (David)
Kruger; brother, Larry (Bev) Wesely, Lowell and Marie Wavrin;
22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his
loving pet, “Toby.”
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Jane
in 2002; brothers, Richard and Donald; stepdaughter, Yvonne (Thiele) Bell.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17 at Saint
Augustine Catholic Church, Austin. There will be a 6:30 p.m. prayer service
on Wednesday evening at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4
to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour before the service at the church on
Thursday. An honor guard will be provided by the Knights of Columbus
Fourth Degree, No. 1201 of Austin. Interment will be Calvary Cemetery.

Iona A. Grove, 102, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at
St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.
Iona Everson was born on November 19, 1909, to Martha and Charles
Everson on a farm one mile east of Mona, Iowa. She attended school through
eighth grade in Mona and graduated from Lyle High School in 1928.
After attending Minneapolis Business College and working in several
offices as a stenographer, she was involved in a car accident injuring
her right arm so she came back home.
She married Orlando Grove on October 12, 1933, at Mona Lutheran
Church. They lived on three farms south of Lyle, Minnesota. They also
lived in Rochester, Hayfield, Preston, Chatfield, and Austin, Minnesota.
Iona was a dedicated homemaker her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando; her parents;
son-in-law, Harry Anderson; two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth; and her
sister, Erlis Libersky.
She is survived by her children, Marlene Anderson of Chatfield, Vern
(Susan) of Austin, and Keith (Nancy) of Golden Valley, Minn. She is also
survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one
great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at
Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Interment
will be in the Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan
Mortuary for one hour before the service on Thursday. Memorials are preferred

Melvin Wirth1947-2012
Melvin Wirth, 64, of Independence, Wisconsin, formerly of Austin,
Minnesota, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester,
Minnesota.
Melvin was born June 5, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Fred and
Florence Wirth. Melvin served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam. He was
employed at Hormel in Austin for 41 years until retirement.
Survivors include his sister, Jeanette (Paul) Tobiason of Independence;
brother-in-law, Michael Grilc of Roscoe, Illinois; nieces, grand-nieces
and nephews.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Grilc.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum, Wisconsin. Burial, with military
rites, will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Greene, Iowa on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.

S. E. Colby, Former
Osage Man, Dies at
Crystal, North Dakota
S. E. Colby was born at Brownsdale, Minnesota, January 21, 1878, the son
of Bryon Eri and Ida Campbell Colby. At an early age his parents moved to
Taylor, Wisconsin where he lived until 1892. Then the family came to Osage.
He attended the Osage public schools.
He took his training as a railroad agent, and did other railroad work,
under D. M. Loban, agent at the Illinois Central depot.
In 1908 he was married to Ina Hamford, of Mitchell.
Surviving are six children: Inez Colby Westby, of Littleton, Colorado;
Marian Colby Whelan, Catherine Colby Belland, and Clair Colby of Crystal,
North Dakota; Stanley Jr., of Shelbyville, Indiana' and Dorothy Colby at
home. Also surviving is a sister, Hattie Colby, of Osage, and a brother,
Lloyd, of Nashua.

NOTE: One source said he died in Minnesota, and another says it was in Iowa. He
is buried at Six Mile Grove cemetery, in Mower county, Minnesota, 1/2 mile
from the Iowa border.

Steven Allen Cooklin, age 51 of Austin, Minnesota, died on Tuesday,
May 15, 2012, in Steele County.
Steven was born March 8, 1961, in St. Paul to Rolland Dale and Lois
Yvonne (DeSart) Cooklin. Steven attended school in Austin and worked as
an auto mechanic. On Nov. 5, 1999, he married Patti Ann Anderson in Austin.
For the past two years, he worked security at Hormel Foods Corporation.
One of his favorite pastimes was being a ham radio operator.
Survivors include his wife: Patti, Austin; son: Jacob (Stephanie)
Cooklin, Waseca; stepdaughter: Amber Shindelar, Austin; two grandchildren;
four step grandchildren; two sisters: Brenda (Jim) Waltz of Austin, Suzanne
Reule of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; his father Rolland Cooklin, Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois.
A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.

Renae Jean Capote, age 53, of Austin, Minnesota, died Monday, May 21,
2012 at the Adams Healthcare Center.
Renae was born April 28, 1959 in Austin, to Russell and Rose (Burton)
Allen. She grew up in Austin, and on July 17, 1982, she married Juan
Capote in Austin.
Renae enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being a
mother and grandmother. One of her favorite things to do was "Sunday
Movie Night." The entire family and often friends would camp out in the
living room while watching movies and snacking on pizza and popcorn all
night. Renae also enjoyed family vacations, camping, fishing, and going
on the Mississippi River. She was well known for her love of cooking
and throwing dinner parties.
Renae has the unique ability to make those around her feel safe and
loved, it didn't matter if it was the neighborhood kids down the street
or someone who had just moved to town without a stable living
environment. The doors to her home and heart were always open. She was
a woman you could always turn to in need of advice or just to talk.

Bernice Viola (Kolden) Ruble 1921-2012
Bernice Viola Ruble, age 91 of Austin, Minnesota, died on Friday, May
18, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.
Bernice was born on March 19, 1921, in Mud Lake, Minn., the daughter of
Thorval and Palma (Johnson) Kolden. She grew up in northern Minnesota
graduating from Holt High School in the late 1930’s.
After graduation Bernice came to the area to find work. On May 15, 1941,
she married Richard Ruble in Hayward, Minn. Bernice worked as a secretary
for her husband for the various organizations he worked and volunteered for.
She was a member of the Moscow Lutheran Church and Grapevine Twist.
Bernice enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and square dancing. She was well
known for growing and making gorgeous gladiolas arrangements. She will be
remembered with love.
Survivors include her children: Cheryl (Glenn) Schewe, Andrea (James)
Flemming and Emerson (Nikki) Ruble all of Austin; eight grandchildren;
six great-grandchildren; siblings Jim (Connie) Kolden, Janet (Bill)
Doxrude, Orville (Makia) Kolden, Kendall (Vicki) Kolden and Lyla (Al)
Burnett; many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard;
grandchildren Angela Marie Flemming and Martin Richard Flemming;
siblings Thelma, Carol, Richard, Reuben, Lorna, Earl, Floyd and Roger.
Memorial services for Bernice will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday,

Loren Alfred Hyland 1930-2012
Loren Alfred Hyland, 82, died with his family by his side on Friday,
May 18, 2012.
Loren was born on the family farm in Pleasant Valley Township, Minn. on
January 25, 1930, to Emma and Alfred Hyland. He was baptized at East St.
Olaf Lutheran Church, Rockdell, Minn. and later confirmed at St. Olaf
Lutheran Church in Austin, Minn.
Loren was one of seven siblings growing up on a farm in Grand Meadow,
Minn. He graduated from Austin High School in 1948 and was a member of
the Austin High School wrestling team that won the 1948 State Wrestling
Championship, placing third in his weight class.
During the Korean War from January 1951 to October 1954, Loren served
in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He spent his entire career
with Hormel Foods from 1948 to 1990 working in numerous departments.
On Dec. 10, 1955, he married Patricia Jean Grundmeier, and they were
married for 56 years. Loren and Pat raised their three daughters in Austin.
In 1990, Loren and Pat moved to Houston, Texas, where they lived for 10
years before returning home to Austin.
Loren was an avid runner and completed his first marathon in Houston
the day before his 63rd birthday. He participated in many competitive
races, always placing near the top in his age group. He loved working
out, biking and golfing with his many friends and family. Loren was a
member of the American Legion, the Elks Club and St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mrs. Robert
(Darlene) Earl.
Loren is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hyland; three daughters,
Jodi (Bill) Sorensen, Denver, Colorado, Julie (Bob) Jenkins, Houston, Jane
Hyland, Minneapolis; granddaughter Haley Sorensen; two sisters, Shirley
(Bill) Silver and Diana (Jim) Ludwig; three brothers, Robert, Duane, and
Lowell (Norma) Hyland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Home Health Hospice for their
compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at
St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Todd Portinga, AiM officiating. A private
family inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery with Austin Post 91
American Legion in charge of military honors. In lieu of flowers, please
send memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Capital Fund or the Austin

Clifford Gene Wilde 1936-2012
Clifford Gene Wilde, 75, of Austin, Minnesota, died Sunday, May 20, 2012,
at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Cliff was born July 29, 1936, in Austin to James and Elizabeth (Malone)
Wilde. He grew up in Austin where he graduated from Austin High School.
Cliff served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961. Many knew Cliff
as a long time bartender in the Austin area.
Survivors include his long time companion and special friend, Marie
Norman, and her daughters, Tina (Tony) Corporon and Kathy (Tom) Eeten;
brother, Jerry (Mary) Wilde; sisters, Shirley Frankum, Dianne (Dennis)
Distad; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon “Bud”, Don,
William, Clinton; sister, Dorothy Huffman.
A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at

Beverly Ann (Stundahl) Turner1932-2012
Beverly Ann Turner, 80, of Austin, Minnesota, died on Monday morning,
May 21, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
She was born June 25, 1931, to Erling and Amelia (Midge) Stundahl in
Oakland, Minnesota. After attending Moscow School in Freeborn County,
Beverly worked at St. Olaf Hospital in the kitchen. She married Donald
Dee Turner on Sept. 16, 1950, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.
They moved to Texas where Bev worked at the PX while Don was in the
service. After Don’s discharge, they returned to Austin where Bev was
a homemaker and mother of two. Later she worked at JC Penney where she
retired. She enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; a daughter, Deborah Christofferson
of Owatonna, Minn.; a son, Donald (Patty) Turner of Afton, Minn.; three
grandchildren, Beth (Matt) Kunkel of Mankato, Jesse and Cody Christofferson
of Owatonna; two sisters, Merlene Smith of Rochester and Sandra (Bill) Knopf
of Rochester; four sisters-in-law, Joyce Stundahl, Shirley Stundahl, Rose
Stundahl and Georgia Nelson, all of Austin. She was preceded in death by
her parents; three brothers, Everett, Melvin and Duane Stundahl; her
mother-in-law, Anna Turner; brothers-in-law Don Nelson, Lloyd Gaul,
Charlie Smith.

Delores J. (Ripka) Tieman 1931-2012
Delores June Tieman, 80, of rural St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Sunday morning,
May 20, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
She was born November 6, 1931, to James and Grace (Day) Ripka in the
West Concord area. After growing up in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, the
family moved to Rose Creek where Delores graduated from high school. She
re-located to Brownsdale, Minnesota, until her marriage to Justin Tieman
on May 18, 1957, at Marshall Lutheran Church in Adams, Minn. They made
their home near Mona, Iowa. A member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in
Lyle, Delores enjoyed children, baking, working in the garden, plants and
pets. She also volunteered at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home for 12 years.
Survivors include her husband, Justin Tieman; children, Dennis (Debra)
Tieman of Fremont, Wis., Darwin Tieman of Austin, Minn., LaRae Tieman of
St. Ansgar, Iowa, Spencer Tieman of Osage, Iowa, Debra (Rick) Smith of
LeSueur, Minn., Bryan Tieman of Lyle, Minn., Douglas Tieman of Austin,
Denise Tieman of Apple Valley, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Gabrielle, Timothy,
Andrew, Jonathan, Bethany, Matthew, Ruth, Nicholas, Stephanie, Michael and
Joshua Smith, Sarah Lester, Shaelyn and Jada Curry; one great-grandchild,

Evelyn Louise Overton, age 87, of Austin died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at
Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.
Evelyn was born September 9, 1924 in Lyle, Minnesota to Axel and Meta
(Nelson) Denisen. She attended elementary school in a one room school
house. On April 28, 1947 she was united in marriage to Aloysius "Al"
Overton. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1976.
Evelyn worked at Hormel for five years. She volunteered approximately
20 years at St. Edward's Catholic Church cooking for many weddings and
community functions. Evelyn won many blue ribbons at the Mower County
Fair for her flowers.
She was a long time member of the American Legion and the Eagles.
She enjoyed many years traveling with Al and seeing the entire United
States. Her greatest pleasure was spending hours going to auctions.
Evelyn was known by everyone.
Survivors include her son, Jim (Naita) Overton, Punta Gorda,
Florida, and Aitkin, Minnesota; her grandson, Blair (Joelle) Overton,
Elk River, Minnesota; three great grandchildren; two step grandsons;
five step grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents,
Axel and Meta Denisen; her sister, Mildred.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 8, 2012
at St. Edward's Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. There
will be a 6:30 pm wake service on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends

Carmel C. (Scheid) Wald 1916-2012
#1:
Carmel C. Scheid Wald, 95, of Fremont, Nebraska, and formerly of Austin,
Minnesota, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Fremont Area Medical Center.
Carmel C. Scheid was born on August 17, 1916, in Easton, Minnesota, to William
and Louise (Hefner) Scheid. She attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic
Grade School in Easton and attended one year at Easton Public High School
then two years at Sacred Heart High School in Waseca, Minn. She graduated
from Wells High School in Wells, Minn., in 1933. She took post graduate
courses in shorthand, typing and accounting at Waseca High School while
working for Scheid Plumbing and Heating in Waseca.
Carmel married Glendon Worth Wald on September 17, 1935, in Northwood,
Iowa, and in a special ceremony in the Catholic Church in Philadelphia,
Pa. In Philadelphia, she worked for Sellers Plumbing and Supply developing
a pricing catalog for them and later worked for another plumbing firm in
Philadelphia. The couple moved to Juneau, Alaska where their two daughters
were born. They were en route to St. Paul, Minn. when the attack on Pearl
Harbor occurred. Six months later, the family moved to Seattle, Wash. The
couple later separated and Carmel returned to Minnesota to raise her
daughters. Glendon died June 21, 1966.
Initially, Carmel worked at a bank in Easton and then moved to Austin,
Minn. in March of 1947 and began a 32-year career with Hormel as a Kardex
Clerk. Two years later, she was assigned to the dry sausage department as
secretary. She held secretarial positions for several managers of the
company. Carmel was the first woman advanced into Hormel’s corporate
management, assuming the duties of personnel assistant manager. She was
in the controller’s division of the Hormel corporate office, where she
was responsible for hiring all office, clerical and technical employees.
She retired on December 31, 1979.
In addition to her Hormel responsibilities, Carmel kept the financial
records for Powerite Electric, South Side Motors and many years for Ramsey
Golf Course eventually assuming co-ownership briefly after the death of
Giles Healy.
Over the years her hobbies included golf, bridge, reading, travel and
visiting family and friends.
She was a member of a Catholic Church in Austin, a past president of
the Austin American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the DOES, and later
years a member of the Austin Country Club. Later, Carmel became a member
of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont, a member of Nebraska Upsilon
Master (Beta Sigma Phi) Sorority as well as a bridge club.
In June 2006, due to health concerns, she moved from Austin and became
a jet setter living with her daughters. She moved to Nye Court Assisted
Living in 2010 and to Nye Legacy in March 2011, after several
hospitalizations. For some time, she still enjoyed attending Mass, sorority
functions, playing bridge and going out to eat with family and friends. She
especially enjoyed celebrating her 95th birthday weekend in August 2011.
Carmel is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and
Jim Hanson of Fremont, Neb., and Jeanette and Ronald Fusile of Warrenton,
Va.; seven grandchildren, Jay (Donna) Hanson of Carrolton, Texas, Kelly
(Pam) Hanson of Papillion, Neb., Ron (Tammie) Hanson of Fremont, Jeff
(Teresa) Fusile of Carmel, Ind., Jill Eckert of Warrenton, Dana (Ray)
Ryder of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and Lt. Cmdr. Keith (Jennifer) Hanson of
Frisco, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren, Danny Hanson, Joel and Tyler Krocker,
Nicole and Josh Hanson, Regina, Joe, Alex and Wade Fusile, Bianca Fusile,
Sabrina and Drew Eckert, Mina Carmella Ryder and Hannah Hanson; sister,
Rita (McRea) Wilmert of Blue Earth, Minn.; brother, Marley Scheid of
Mitchell, S.D.; and many special nieces and nephews.
Carmel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Emil
and William Scheid and Monsignor Alton H. Scheid and an infant brother;
sisters-in-law, Marianne, Marcella and Elaine Scheid; nephew, Stephen
Scheid; great niece, Amy Noterman; and her very special friend of more
than 50 years, Giles Healy.

Anna Catherine (Lammers) MEYER1917-2012
Anna Catherine Meyer, 95, of South Beloit, Illinois, and formerly of
Austin, Minnesota, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 16, 2012,
surrounded by her loving family.
Anna was born April 1, 1917, in Avoca, Minnesota, the daughter of
Theodore and Katherine (Hollis) Lammers. She married Leonard “Shorty”
Meyer on June 30, 1937. He predeceased her on January 30, 2002. Anna was a
member of The Church of the Holy Spirit in Roscoe, Illinois.
Survivors include her five children, Betty (Bob) Scott, Jerry (Bev)
Meyer, Karol (Jim) Jansen, Karon (Ken) Pelz, and Lynda Beck; two
daughters-in-law, Barb and Barbie Meyer; two brothers, Joe Lammers
and Bernard (Virginia) Lammers; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Lammers;
27 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband; two sons, Larry and
Terry Meyer; three brothers, John, Frank, and Tony Lammers; and sister,

Gloria A. (Swanson) Eaker 1939-2012
Gloria Eaker, age 73, of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died Thursday
May 24, 2012, at Prairie Manor Care Center, Blooming Prairie.
Gloria A. Swanson was born March 28, 1939, in Austin, Minnesota, to
Harold and Gladys (Orth) Swanson. She grew up in the London area and
graduated from Lyle High School in 1957.
On September 17, 1960, she married Allen R. Eaker at the Deer Creek Valley
Lutheran Church, Deer Creek, Minnesota. Following her marriage, she lived
on the farm all her life.
A member of First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Gloria worked
at Fantles in Austin as head bookkeeper and at the Blooming Prairie Times
in advertising. She enjoyed time with her dog Molly, and loved her daughter
Kim’s puppy Keisha.
Survivors include her two daughters, Diane Eake, Blooming Prairieand Kim
(Jeffrey) Lang, Owatonna; sister Florence (David) Peterson, Blue Earth;
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Gladys, her husband
Allen, and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday May 31, 2012,
at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Charles Leonard
and Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating.

Patricia M. (Salmon) LARSON1929-2012
Patricia M. Larson, age 82, of Austin, died Thursday evening, May
24, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea.
Pat was born June 30, 1929, to John and Louise (Wermerskirchen) Salmon
in Claremont, Minn. She graduated from Claremont High School, went to
secretarial school in Minneapolis and later moved to Austin working for
George A. Hormel and Company. She was married on May 29, 1954, to David
A. Larson, and began a career as a homemaker.
Pat enjoyed being involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives
and spending time with her many friends. She was a member of Queen of
Angels Catholic Church, and avid golfer and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include three sons, Doug (Kathy) Larson, St. Michael,
Minn., Jeff (Debbie) Larson, Mannford, Okla., Steve (Rhonda) Larson,
Mantorville, Minn.; six grandchildren: Sarah, Austin, Lindsey, Ryne,

Darcey Sheperd, all of Oklahoma; five step great grandchildren, Kylynn,
Jackson, Kyle, Bradley and Maci; sister, Joan Salmon, Tucson, Arizona;
brother-in-law: Lewis Larson, Carrollton, Ga.; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David; and son, Terry.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at
Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There
will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service on Monday at Mayer Funeral Home where
friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service
at the church on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Hormel Institute
for Cancer Research.

Kevin Bernard Hagan, 51, of Rittman, Ohio died Wednesday, May 23, 2012.
Kevin Bernard Hagan was born December 13, 1960, to Bernard Hagan and Shirley
(Doocy) Fenstermaker. He attended elementary school in Brownsdale, Minn.
and high school in Hayfield, Minn. Kevin married Joyce Clutter on September
1, 2007. He worked as a switcher truck driver in Rittman for 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Clutter) Hagan of Rittman; son, Nick
Canfield of Rittman; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Bruce Parker;
grandson Trey and granddaughter Haeleigh Parker of Rittman; mother and
stepfather Shirley and Darrel Fenstermaker, of Coupeville, Wash.; siblings
Randy (Kathy) Hagan, of San Diego, Sheryl (Bill) Hertle of Austin, Minn.,
Brenda (Wayne) Nelson of Austin, Kim Hagan of Austin, Jason (Tiffany)
Hagan, of Austin; mother-in-law, Melissa Clutter of Rittman; sisters-in-law
and husbands Char and Gus Halblaub, and Liz and Don Canfield, all of Rittman;
many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Hagan.
Per Kevin’s wishes, he is being cremated and no funeral will be held. A
celebration of his life is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, May 28, 2012, at
the Park Pavillion in Brownsdale, Minn.

Troy D. Haskin1963-2012
Troy David Haskin, 48, of Tustin, California, died Wednesday, May
23, 2012, after a lengthy battle with an illness.
Troy was born on July 2, 1963, in Austin, Minnesota, to David and
Ardyth “Ardy” (Arens) Haskin. His parents were longtime residents of
Austin before they moved to California in 1969.
Troy is survived by his son Cody Haskin, stepson Chad Goslee,
brother Scott Haskin, and sister Karin Haskin, all of Tustin; sister
and brother-in-law Kim and John Ryan and family of Bennet, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Haskin, and
grandparents Charles and Bernice Haskin.
Saddleback Chapel in Tustin is in charge of arrangements.
