SUDDEN DEATH OF A FORMER OLD SETTLER -- On Tuesday last
at 5 p.m., at Minneapolis, Mr. Jerome B. Rogers died from the bursting of
a blood vessel, while suffering from a violent fit of coughing. He had been
a sufferer for years with asthma; and it was from the effects of his old
disease that he died.
He was about fifty years of age. His remains were brought
to Austin on Thursday last, and buried under the auspices of the Masonic
fraternity, of which he was an honored member. A large concourse of his
old friends and neighbors were at the train upon arrival of the remains,

who is sister of Mr. R.O. Hall, accompanied the remains, with her younger
children, and was met at the depot by her relatives and friends.
The relatives of the deceased have out heart-felt sympathy
in this hour of their affliction. Jerome Rogers was a most liberal-minded
and whole souled man, one of whom a friend never asked a favor that it was
not granted, if within his power. His death will be greatly mourned by his
