Mary (Pinkava) Schroeder1871-1901
Aug. 14, 1871
Feb. 26, 1901
OBITUARY.
Died, at her home in this city, Feb. 25th, Mary Pinkava Schroeder.
The funeral will be held from the house on Jay street, Thursday, Rev.
C.D. Beiden officiating. The interment will be in Oakwood cemetery. Twice
within a fortnight we have been called upon to chronicle a death in this
family. A week ago last Sunday, the father was buried and now the daughter
is summoned home.
Mary Pinkava Schroeder was born in Bohemia August 14th, 1871. About
twenty years ago she came to America and settled in Austin where she lived
in her father's home. Here she was married May 29th, 1896 to Fred Schroeder
and since that time she has made her home in Austin.
For nearly two years she has been ill and the disease, consumption, left
little room for hope of recovery and when death finally came it was to
release the tired body. To the husband and to the family doubly bereft,
we extend our sympathy.

Peter Klapperich
Killed In Auto
Accident Tuesday Night
Peter Klapperich, age about 21 son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Klapperich,
residing northwest of Johnsburg, Minnesota, was almost instantly killed
Tuesday night when his Dodge car turned over into a ditch a few miles
northwest of Johnsburg. The young man was driving home from Adams when
he tried to pass another car which had stopped because of faulty lights.
In trying to pass, the Klapperich car caught the fender of the other car
and skidded into the ditch. When he tried to right the car it somersaulted,
it is believed, throwing him out and crushing his chest. There were no
marks or cuts found on his body.
John Smith, who was on his way home came upon the scene and did his
best to revive Mr. Klapperich. The parents were notified immediately and
the body was taken to the farm home. It was a terrible blow to the parents,
relatives and friends. The young man was their only son, a fine fellow and
a hard worker, and his sudden taking away has caused intense pain to all.

Natalie (Draheim) "Tollie" Kolb 1914-2011
Natalie “Tollie” Kolb, 97, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on
Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2011, at Our House Memory Care.
Natalie was born on September 15, 1914, in what was then Poland/East
Prussia to Emil and Ida (Schlender) Draheim. Her early years of growing
up in a small farming community were disrupted by World War I, which
destroyed the family farm and forced several relocations. Rather than
staying to rebuild after the war, the family chose to immigrate to the
U.S. and landed at Ellis Island in 1925.
The family migrated to Austin, Minnesota, where Natalie was educated
at St. John’s Lutheran School, joined Geo. A. Hormel & Co., and became
a naturalized citizen. She married Chris W. Kolb and had one daughter,
Sharon. In 1957, Natalie joined Chris in operating the Kolb Bakery family
business until retiring in 1972.
Woven throughout the demands of the business, Natalie maintained a
lifelong participation in St. John’s Lutheran Church and varied Austin
area activities. She golfed extensively, enjoyed card games with family
and friends, her flower garden and bowled until she was 80 years old. Her
early life trials and tribulations were transformed into a gentle love and
involvement in her family’s lives in which she took great pride and pleasure.
Natalie’s legacy will be that of an appreciative citizen and a

Alice Elizabeth (Crilly) Sathre, 87 1924-2011
Alice Elizabeth Sathre, age 87, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on
Thursday, October 27, 2011, due to complications of dementia.
Alice was born in Balaton, Minnesota on July 30, 1924, to Irish immigrants,
Patrick and Lizzie (Kane) Crilly. She graduated from Tyler High School and
eventually made her way to Austin, where on May 17, 1947, she married her
best friend and the love of her life, Paul Sathre.
Alice volunteered countless hours in many capacities at Queen of Angels
Church and School. She also found satisfaction in her associations with
Sacred Heart Hospice Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, and the VFW charitable
gambling committee.
After raising her six children, Alice entered the workplace at the
Austin Clinic, she continued on at the Hormel Corporate Office and R & D,
IB Industries, and Amy Swain’s Audiology office. She enjoyed playing
bridge, dancing, various crafts, and supporting whatever adventure Paul
conjured up. Being involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives
and activities brought Alice countless hours of joy.
We fondly remember our mom and grandma as having the “never take the
easy way out” attitude, always there for all of us with her “big girl
pants pulled up,” head down, sleeves rolled up, and boots on the
ground-ready to take on whatever curveballs life threw at her-from the
blood curdling cries six kids can make, from the many painful earaches
of her first born baby to the Parkinsons disease that ravaged dad and
consumed mom’s tireless energy, and all those in between. We children
were blessed to have her and dad by our sides as we have traversed life’s
paths; the joys and sorrows that we experienced, they experienced with us.
We feel our mom/grandma is most remembered and cherished as being truly
devoted; devoted first and foremost to her husband; her children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren; to her mother, brothers, sister;
her volunteer opportunities; her friends and neighbors and importantly
her Catholic faith, from which she gathered strength and guiding principles.
We feel truly blessed to have had our Irish mom/grandma with her beautifully
dimpled smile as a selfless role model whose legacy of love and devotion we
can always look to for inspiration and guidance in our lives.
Survivors include her six children: Michael (Lorelee) Sathre, Inver
Grove Heights, Paulette (Don) Schlichter, Apple Valley, Danny (Janeen)
Sathre, Jacksonville, Ore., Charlotte (Dan) Knutson, Bloomington, Scott
(Jana) Sathre, Allendale, Mich., Christine (Kevin) Schwab, St. Louis,
Mo.; 11 grandchildren: Treana (Andrew) Mungovan, Dane Sathre, Corey
(Sheana) Schlichter, Tracey Schlichter, Kanette Sathre, Yvonne (Beau)
Garrett, Katie Knutson, Kyle Knutson, Joshua Sathre, Elizabeth (Jake)
Snellink, Emily Schwab; two great grandchildren: Kieran and Nora Mungovan;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 2008; their daughter,
Priscilla; grandsons, Christopher Sathre and Matthew Knutson; her four
brothers and one sister.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at
