Pauline Blaser1926-2000
Pauline Beatrice Blaser, 73, of Adams, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester.
Pauline was born Dec. 5, 1926, in New Haven, Iowa, the daughter of Perry and Mary (Elgas) Elliott. She grew up in the Stacyville, Iowa, area and attended the Visitation Catholic School. She was married to Norbert R. Blaser on Sept. 16, 1947, at Sacred heart Church in Adams.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed quilt making and making rosaries for the missions.
She is survived by her husband Norbert R. Blaser, Adams, daughters and sons-in-law: Donna (Bill) May, Clarks Grove, Karen (John) Rich, Apple Valley, Debra (Tom) Shane, Zumbrota, Pamela (Michael) Nagele, LeRoy, Bonnie (Craig) Lunde, Red Wing, Jeanine Blaser, Adams, Beverly (Mark) Beaver, Elkton; 15 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Orian Brown, Genoa, Wis., Doris (Ellis) Douty, Adams, Myrna (Fred) Bissen, Stacyville, Iowa, Carol (John) Vogel, Adams, Isabel Mullenback, Johnsburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean (Virginia) Elliot, John (Thresa) Elliot, Altura; nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by and infant son, David Allen, infant daughter, Mary, her parents, and infant brother, sister Alice and a nephew.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory Leif officiating.
Interment: Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams
Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home on Tuesday and on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. During the visitation, there will be a 4:30 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Donna Marie (Bulger) Thompson1930-2000
Donna Marie Thompson, 70, Rochester, died on Saturday, August 26, 2000,
at St. Mary's Hospital.
Donna Marie Bulger was born May 21, 1930, in Austin, the daughter of
Joseph and Fern (Roberts) Bulger. She graduated from Austin High School and Austin Junior College.
On June 2, 1956, she married John W. Thompson at First United Methodist Church in Austin. They lived in Chicago for seven years before moving to Edina, where she worked in the credit department for Dayton-Hudson Corp. In 1995, they moved to Rochester. Donna enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Deer Lake in Itasca County, especially the early spring and the days of Indian summer. Over the years, she took special delight in their dogs Pepper, Frisco and Pepper II.
She is survived by husband, John W. Thompson, Rochester; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jay and Lois Hetrick, Elk River; nephew, Dave Hetrick, Elk River; niece, Vickie Ziegler, Elk River; cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Kronen officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Casket bearers will be Dave Bulger, Charles Voss, Gary Blum, Bill Mallory, Dave Hetrick and Wallace Erickson.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Tuesday and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Frank H. Rezac1925-2000
Frank H. Rezac, 75, of Austin, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, at Methodist
Hospital in St. Louis Park.
Frank was born March 20, 1925, on a farm east of Webster, Minn. He
attended Northfield High School. At the age of 18, he joined the Navy
and served in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he returned
home and worked for the railroad as a fireman on a locomotive. On Jan. 6,
1951, he started working for Hormel. On April 7, 1951, he married Mary Ann
Hrabak. Frank had an interest in and talent for both music and woodworking.
He enjoyed playing in a band as an accordion player and was a gifted
woodworker. Since his retirement on Aug. 16, 1985, he has been busy with
his music, woodworking, traveling and memberships in the Legion and the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by sons, Ralph Rezac, Eden Prairie, Marvin (Melinda)
Rezac, Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Loretta (Nick) Grimley, and nine
grandchildren. He also is survived by three sisters and a brother:
Camilla Docken, Northfield, Minn.; Evelyn Simon, New Prague, Minn.;
Julia Splichal, Key West, Fla, and Lawrence Rezac, Webster, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann on April 14, 1994; his
parents, Frank and Agnes (Trenda) Rezac, a brother Charlie Rezac and a
sister Hattie Adamek.
Service: A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Angels
Catholic Church with Father Virgil Duellman officiating.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post
No. 91.
Visitation: There will be a 7 p.m. rosary service this evening at
Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and
from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Ellen Marian Johnson Cramer Munson1903-2000
Ellen Marian Johnson Cramer Munson, 96, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of
Austin, died at the home of her daughter, Marian Torno, on Aug. 24, 2000.
She was born to Jacob and Inga Johnson on Nov. 16, 1903, in Revillo, S.D.
She grew up in Palermo, N.D.
She married to Leonard Cramer on March 31, 1923, and moved to Austin,
where employment was available at the Hormel Meat Packing Plant. She had
five children. She married Orlean (Milton) Munson on May 28, 1962, and
remained married to him until the time of her death.
She loved animals (birds and especially dogs and horses), gardening, and wildlife in general.
She is survived by her husband, Orlean (Milton) Munson, Rose Creek; sons, Leonard (Evelyn) Cramer, Mora, Ethan Cramer, Mora, and Edward (Rose) Cramer, Stickney, S.D., and her daughter, Marian (Kenneth) Torno, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her half-sister, Hazel; her parents, first husband, Leonard Cramer; daughter, Ilene Young.
Service: A memorial service was held Saturday at Country Roads Church in Stacy at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob Bohacheck officiating. Keyboardist was Jim Hill. Music was provided by granddaughter, Dianna Kasprzak. The 23rd Psalm was read by granddaughter, Kathy Torno.
Interment: Fridsborg Cemetery with grandsons as pallbearers, Bobby Cramer, Henry Cramer, Leonard Cramer, Marvin Cramer, Maynard Cramer, Michael Torno, and Billy Young, as pallbearers.
Arrangement were made with Strike Funeral Chapel of Isanti.

Dale HobbsDied 2000
Dale Hobbs, 78, of Fallbrook, Calif., a former resident of Austin, died
at his home of cancer.
Survivors include three daughters; one brother and sister-in-law, Delbert
and Mary Hobbs, Austin; and one sister, Cleone McNier, Menomonee Falls, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Service: To be held later in California.

Dolphy Virginia Gilderhus1920-2000
Dolphy Virginia Gilderhus, age 80, of Adams, Mower county, Minnesota, died
on Wednesday, August 23, 2000, at Austin Medical Center.
Dolphy was born April 2, 1920, in Dodge County, the daughter of Nordeen
and Mable (Scharberg) Gilderhus. She graduated from the Hayfield High School
in 1929 and later moved to St. Paul where she was a clerical worker in the
Minnesota State Unemployment Department, retiring in 1985. While in St.
Paul, she was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and an avid sports
fan, following the Twins, Vikings and Gophers. Due to declining health, in
June 1999, she moved to the Northside apartments in Adams to be near family.
She was a member of the Marshall Lutheran Church, rural Adams.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, David N. (LaVonne) Gilderhus, Adams; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Gumerson, Oklahoma City, Okla., Martha (Ralph) Egeland, Aurora, Ill.; one niece and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Marshall Lutheran Church in rural Adams with the Rev. Richard Kastner officiating. Organist will be Lisa Landherr. Soloist will be Jan Johnson
Interment: Marshall Lutheran Church Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Erick Egeland, Sara Egeland, Cindy Bellrichard, David Egeland, Gary Gilderhus, Aaron Bellrichard

Mary Cambern1923-2000
Mary Jane Cambern, age 77, of Austin, Mower County, Minnesota, died
Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.
Mary Jane was born June 4, 1923, in Fresno, Calif. She was an employee
of Northwestern Bell for over 37 years and had since retired.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jane (Don) Kolpin, Coon
Rapids; two grandchildren; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and
Wendell Ingraham and their family, Coon Rapids; sisters-in-law, Irene
Lloyd, Clay Center, Kan., Hazel Forslund, Portland, Ore., numerous nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Vandle Forslund and Ronald Cambern;
a step-son, Byron Forslund.
Service: 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Northwest Church of Christ, 1000
First Ave. NW, with Pastor David DeFor officiating.
Interment: Private interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Mayer Funeral Home and one hour
before the service at the church on Thursday.
Memorials are preferred to St. Mark's Lutheran Home, the American Diabetes Association or donor's choice.

Kenneth Earl Wilson1925-2000
Kenneth Earl Wilson, 75, formerly of Austin, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, of cancer.
Kenneth was born Nov. 27, 1925, to Mr. and Mrs. James Wilson. He attended Austin public schools. He was a painter by trade. He married Darlene Anderson of Lyle. They had four children and one preceded him in death. They moved to California in 1952.
He is survived by his wife Darlene and family in California; sisters, Ruby Barclay and Viola Miller, of Austin; brothers, Raymond Wilson of Austin and Wilbur Wilson of Owatonna.
He will be sadly missed by all.
Service: A funeral service will be held Thursday in California.

Dale Richard Njos1930-2000
Dale Richard Njos, 69, of Waltham, died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born Aug. 26, 1930 to Peter and Laura (Williamson) Njos. He married Frances O'Connor in 1954 and to this union eight children were born. Then in 1978, he married Gloria (Allas) Williamson. Dale served in the Korean War. He worked for Amella Mills in Blooming Prairie, Minn., Lysne Construction for 25 years and O'Connor Farms. He retired because of health reasons.
He was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church of Waltham. He enjoyed watching racing and especially Mark Martin and the Minnesota Vikings.
Dale is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Waltham; sons, Kelly (Pat) Njos, Blooming Prairie, and Jerry (Cindy) Njos, San Diego, Calif.; daughters, Lynn (Eric) Leraaen, St. Ansgar, Iowa, Lori Erickson, Riverside, Calif., Cindy (Steve) Guttormson, Austin, Carol (Rick) Reid, Maple Lake, and Amy (Mark) Johnson, Waconia; step-children, Janelle (Dennis) Potter, Austin, Janice Austin, Arlington, Iowa, Jerry (Tamra) Bissell, Blooming Prairie, Jody (Marie) Bissell, Austin, and Jayne (Dale) Miller, Ellendale; 29 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Duayne (Gladys) Njos, Ellendale, and Paul Njos, Belvidere, Ill.; mother-in-law Gladys Allas; and many nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Laura Njos; daughter, Connie Gilbertson; two brothers, Lawrence and Harry Njos; two sisters, Josephine (Njos) Kulff and Loretta Njos; step-son James Bissell.
Service: A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, rural Waltham, with Pastor John Wolf officiating.
Pallbearers were John Christensen, Peter Njos, Casey Goff, Laura Wencl, Brooke Anderson, Marianda Goff.
The Blooming Prairie VFW Post 878 and the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post 330 provided Military Rites.
Soloist and organist was Kris Allas. Songs performed were "On Eagles Wings" and "The Lord's Prayer."

Vanetta D. Engelby 1908-2000
Vanetta D. Engelby, 91 of Route 1, Sargeant, Mower county, Minnesota,
died Friday, August 18, 2000 at her home.
She was born on October 25, 1908 in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to William W.
and Mary E. (Dutton) Adams. Vanetta grew up in Ledyard, Iowa and later moved
to Sargeant. She married Cliften O. Engelby at the Little Brown Church in
Nashua, Iowa June 12, 1929. A homemaker, she was actively involved in the
United Methodist Women's group all her life.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Orville and Ann Engelby of Ogden, Utah; Ronald and Peggy Engelby of Sargeant; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Richter of Elmore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliften and six siblings.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion United Methodist Church in Sargeant with The Reverend Donald Budd officiating.
Interment: Riverview Cemetery in Elmore.
Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Zion United Methodist Church.

Orrin H. Wood 1916-2000
Orrin died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at his residence.
He was born June 11, 1916, in Mower County, Minnesota, to Horace and
Ada (Brown) Wood. Orrin attended the Sunnyside Country School in Mower
County. He worked at the Hormel Foods Corp. Orrin married Agnes Hall on
March 19, 1941, in Myrtle. After their marriage, he served in the Army
from July of 1942 through October of 1945. After the war he worked for
Hormel Foods again, and retired after 36 years. He was a member of Crane
Community Chapel where he was a church usher and enjoyed Bible Study.
Orrin like farming and was an excellent mechanic.
Orrin enjoyed special friends Mildred Lonergan, Butch Miller, Joe and
Ella Matt, and Dollee Barclay, all of Austin.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis (LaVern) Andrews,
Austin, Shirley (John) Hallman, Wylie, Texas, Diane Miller and Randy
Christianson, Austin, Sandy (Tom) Heard, Forest Lake; 12 grandchildren;
22 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Earl (Charlotte) Wood,
Byron; sister, Margaret Wolff, Austin; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Agnes Wood.
Service: Memorial service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Crane
Community Chapel the Rev. Randy Petersen officiating. Music will be by Kathy
Crosby.
Interment: Private family interment at Enterprise Cemetery
There will be no visitation or reviewal

Joyce E. Miller 1928-2000
Joyce Miller died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at the Austin Medical Center.
Joyce was born June 25, 1929, at Austin, the daughter of Clarence and Evelyn (Ingalls) Thorpe. She graduated from Austin High School in 1947 and served in the Air Force. She was married to A. Daniel Miller on Aug. 25, 1951, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. She had worked as the bookkeeper for The Floor Shop and Drapery Services of Austin until her retirement. After retiring she worked part time in the office of the Oak Park Mall and was a volunteer at the Austin Medical Center and the Mower County Citizens Center. She was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. An avid needle worker and sewer, she also enjoyed reading and golf.
She is survived by her husband, A. Danile Miller, Austin; son and daughter-in-law, Dana (Sue) Miller of Austin; daughter, Tam Christopherson and Michael VanRyswick, Austin; son, Daren Miller and Rochelle Winn, Minneapolis; four grandchildren; sister, Shirley Corbin, York, Neb.; brothers and sister-in-law, Chuck and Helen Thorpe, David Thorpe, California; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don Deines officiating. Organist will be Ruth Monson. Soloist will be Pat Lewis and Sandy Stransky, Violinists, Jesse and Megan Miller.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery with Austin Post No. 91 American Legion in charge of military rites. Honorary bearers will be Jesse Miller, Marisa Christopherson, Megan Miller, Noah Christopherson. Casket bearers will be Dan and Sue Miller, Tam Christopherson and Michael VanRyswick, Daren Miller and Rochelle Winn.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Paul Clausen 1970-2000
Paul Clausen, 29, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000 in an industrial accident.
Paul was born Nov. 18, 1970, in Osage, Iowa, to Richard and Marlene Clausen.
He lived at the family farm by Stacyville, Iowa, for most of his life. He attended school in St. Ansgar, Iowa. He spend much of these years active in the local 4-H Club, showing and riding horses and he frequently enjoyed attending horse shows with his family.
He graduated in 1989 and then worked at Carroll George in Northwood, Iowa. He then worked at Fox River Mills from 1990 to 1998. In 1990, following completion of his CDL training, he started working for Young Trucking.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. He was presently living in Osage, Iowa.
Todd enjoyed horses, horseback riding, playing pool, dancing and fishing, family and friends. He also enjoyed spending extra time with his special friend Shelly.
He is survived by his son, Dustin Berding; parents; paternal grandparents, Clayton and Helga Clausen; brothers, Marlin and fiance Renee Gardner, Stacyville; Mark (Tonya), Rochester; sisters, Tricia (Mark) Hauge, Osage, Shari (Bryan) Mork, Osage; nieces, Crystal and Jennifer Clausen and Lacey Hauge; nephews, Eric Clausen, John Clausen, Luke Hauge and Tyler Mork.
He was preceded in death by his sister Renee and uncle Allen Clausen.
Service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville with the Rev. Daniel Wee officiating.

Rodney Amdahl 1945-2000
Rodney Amdahl, age 55, formerly of Austin, died on Monday, August 14,
2000, in Denver, Colorado, where he had been a resident for over 30 years.
He was born in Austin July 3, 1945 to Irwin W. and Olga O. (Harstad) Amdahl.
After graduating from Austin High School in 1963 and attending two years of
post high school, he went into television repair work.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Kathy Leidal,
Albert Lea; daughter, Nicole Leidal; brothers and sister-in-law, Darrell
Amdahl, Austin; Marlin and Ruth Amdahl, Hudson, Wisconsin; and Blaine
and Patricia Amdahl, Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Service: 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with the
Rev. Harold Deye officiating. Organist is Ernest Murphy.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery in Austin. Casket bearers are Leif
Amdahl, Dave Smith, Brad Amdahl, Jim Amdahl. Honorary casket bearer
is Dave Havens.
Visitation: Friends may call one hour before the service at the

Victor Norman Bungum 1919-2000
Victor Norman Bungum, 81, of Sargeant, Mower county, Minnesota, died
on Tuesday, August 15, 2000, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
He was born April 2, 1919, in Sargeant, to John and Johanna (Hellen)
Bungum. He married Arletta Mae Knutson Feb. 14, 1948 in Sargeant. Victor
was a life long resident of the Sargeant area. He served in the Army as a
medic, in the South Pacific during World War II. He farmed with his brothers
for several years after his enlistment and in later years worked for the
Mower County Co-op of Sargeant as mechanic and truck driver. Victor has
been a resident of Field Crest Care Center since December of 1999.
He is survived by sons, Bruce (Gail) Bungum, Sargeant, Dean (Shelly) Bungum, Sargeant, David (Lisa) Bungum, Sargeant; daughters, Victoria (Peter) Oxborough, Lakewood, Colo., Carol (Gary) Braun, Stewartville, Pamela (Chuck) Koch, Byron, June (Herbert) Howard, Byron, Brenda and Gregg Koch, Glenville, 17 grandchildren; brother, Arnold (Judy) Bungum, Austin; sister, Lillian (Elton) Graff, Clever, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first born infant son, John; brother, Ted Bungum; sisters, Gertrude Bhend and Olga Hauglum.

Interment: Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Sargeant.

Henry Victor Himebaugh 1914-2000
Henry Victor Himebaugh, 85, of Adams, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Adams Health Care Center.
Henry was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Copenhagen, Denmark, the son of Henrik and Sofi (Malberg) Malley. He emigrated to the Chicago area at eight months old. In 1920 the family moved Milnor, N.D. where he attended school in De Lamere, McLeod and Lisbon. He was married to Ella Hatle on Dec. 12, 1938, at Ella's home in Lisbon, N.D. In 1939 they moved to the Adams area where he farmed until 1957, when he became the custodian at the Adams High School until his retirement in 1979. He was also the custodian at the Marshall Lutheran Church rural Adams for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife Ella Himebaugh, Adams; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley (Larry) Bowen, Mapleton, Judy (Luvern) Hanson, Adams; son and daughter-in-law, Dale (Thelma) Himebaugh, Adams; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Merriam Hanson, Gwinner, N.D,, Mary Schlutz, Lisbon, N.D., JoAnne (John) Faller, Lisbon, N.D., brothers and sister-in-law, Frank (Christine) Himebaugh, Lisbon, N.D., Edward Himebaugh, Lisbon, N.D., nieces and nephews.

Dolores K. Slupe1915-2000
Dolores K. Slupe, 85, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on
Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.
Dolores was born Aug. 13, 1915 in Rose Creek to William and Mary (Fink)
Cress. On June 30, 1934, she married Howard Slupe in Austin. She was a
homemaker.
Survivors include four sons and a daughter-in-law: Dale Slupe, Anoka;
Duane Slupe, Austin; Donald (Carole) Slupe, Fremont, Neb.; David Slupe,
Austin; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters and
brothers-in-law, Marie (Vernon) Graff, Austin; Jeanne (Paul) Ginder,
Mankato; Carol (George) Battey, Rochester; a brother and sister-in-law
William (Mary Jane) Cress of Rose Creek.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Slupe.
Service: A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at
St. Augustine Catholic Church, Father Louis Cook and Father Frank
Enright officiating.
Interment: Fort Snelling Cemetery
There will be no visitation or reviewal.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. Mark's
Lutheran Home Ministry or St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Kevin Danley1953-2000
Kevin N. Danley, 47, of Austin, Mower County, Minnesota, died Tuesday,
August 15, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
Kevin was born Jan. 15. 1953 in Austin to Kenneth and Helen (Norton) Danley. Kevin enjoyed traveling with his friends. He liked to watch TV especially the WWF. He had a subscription to TV Guide and knew when to expect it. Kevin enjoyed reading wrestling magazines. He worked at Woodvale and received an oak wall clock this year for 20 years of service.
He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jeanne and Roland Griep, St. Paul, Janet Stark, Roseville; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sally Danley, Champlin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Danley, a sister, Kathryn Joan Danley.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Tim Biren officiating.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery
Visitation: Friends may call an hour and a half before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Friday.

Donald K. Aaby 1922-2000
Donald K. Aaby, 78, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on Saturday,
August 12, 2000, at Burr Oak Manor.
Don was born May 22, 1922, in Decorah, Iowa, to Andrew and Marjorie
(Allen) Aaby. He married Mary "Pat" Lynch on May 29, 1942, at Queen of
Angels Catholic Church in Austin.
Don was a World War II veteran. He was a gunner on the aircraft carrier
U.S.S. Yorktown, which is still docked in Charleston, S. Carolina. He was
a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and also a member of the American
Legion and Eagles club. Don was a retired employee of Hormel Foods.
He is survived by a son, Larry Aaby, Minneapolis, and many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
He had a special friend, Lucille Surdam.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andre and Marjorie Aaby; his
wife, Mary "Pat" Aaby on Dec. 23, 1996; two sons and a daughter; his
brother, Richard Aaby.
Service: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Queen
of Angels Catholic Church with Father Virgil Duellman officiating.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by VFW Post 1216. Casket
bearers will be Ashley Aaby, Joe Vacura, Marlin Anderson Bob McNiff, Ronald
Aaby and Ray Aaby.
Visitation: There will be a 6:30 p.m. wake service today at Mayer Funeral
Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also 11:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.

Otis Johnson 1909-2000
BORN IN MOWER COUNTY
Otis Elvin Johnson, age 90, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at St. Mary's
Hospital in Rochester, Olmsted county, Minnesota.
He was born on November 12, 1909 to Ole and Elvina (Evenson) Johnson in
Sargeant Township.
Otis married Ester Schieck on November 1, 1939, at Trinity Lutheran Church
in Waltham. Otis and Esther farmed west of Stewartville for 12 years. They
then lived in Rochester for 13 years and he worked construction and Esther
worked at Woolworth's. In 1964, he and Esther moved to Hayfield where Otis
was a self-employed painter and tree trimmer.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield. He enjoyed
fishing and playing cards.
Otis is survived by his wife Esther, Hayfield; brother, Maurice (Phyllis) Johnson, Rochester; sisters, Luella (Lorenze) Schieck, Rochester, Ruth (Beaumont) Senjem, Hayfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Manton, Alfred, Ruben, and Stanley; one sister, Aletta Bolstad.
Service: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield with the Rev. Stephan Sandness and the Rev. John Wolf officiating.
Interment: Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers are: DeBlonde Johnson, Paul Senjem, Victor Bolstad, Dennis Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Mike Schieck. Honorary Bearers are Darrel Johnson, Donald Johnson, Leonard Benzel, Dallas Finley, Jim Aarhus, Rudy Senjem.

Emily Jensen1910-2000
Emily Jensen, 89, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Field Crest Care
Center in Hayfield, Minnesota.
She was born Oct. 27, 1910 in Scheinweiss, Russia, to Casper and Emilie
(Bopp) Steigerwald.
Emily immigrated to the United States in 1911. She became a U.S. citizen
in 1952. She lived in Chicago, Ill., and later moved to the Dexter area.
She married Walter Jensen Feb. 4, 1933, in Grand Meadow. Walter died
Dec. 11, 1976. She was a member of Evanger Lutheran Church, rural Sargeant,
and was associated with the Mother's Club, Esther Circle and enjoyed
embroidering, flowers and cats.
She is survived by son Richard (Alice) Jensen, Sargeant; daughter
Doris (Harold) Sheely, Sargeant, Mary (Lawrence) Duncomb, St. Ansgar, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and brother John (Elmira) Steigerwald, Austin.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one grandson, Peter Duncomb; and one brother, Henry Steigerwald.
Service: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Evanger Lutheran Church in rural Sargeant with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating.
Interment: Evanger Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Sargeant. Pallbearers are Mike Jensen, Donald Steigerwald, Todd Duncomb, Linda Jensen, David Sheely, Deanna Sheely.

Marie J. (Lindstrom) Casey 1909-2000
Marie J. Casey, age 91, of Austin, Mower County, Minnesota, died Friday,
August 11, 2000, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center, Austin.
She was born June 26, 1909, at Bronson, Minn., to Evert and Lydia
(Israelson) Lindstrom.
Educated in Austin, she began her employment with Hormel Foods Corp. in 1929.
She enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1943 and took specialized courses before being assigned to a transportation unit in Hawaii and earning an honorable discharged in 1945 with the rank of staff sergeant.
Active in community affairs, she was president of the local women's chapter of the Izaak Walton League and citizens' flood group. She was a member of the union bargaining committee at the Hormel Foods plant in Austin.
She was past state president of the Honor Society of Women Legionnaires, commander of the SPAM Post, member of the Hormel Girls drum and bugle corps and president of the St. Olaf Hospital cardiac rehabilitation group.
She was a life member of Disabled Veterans of America and a 50-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts in Austin.
She enjoyed an annual fishing trip, plus her church and friends.
Survivors include a brother, Gerald Lindstrom, Rolla, Mo., sister-in-law, Aileen Lindstrom, brother-in-law, Joe Thomas, and 10 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Glen, sister, LaVon Thomas.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Usgaard officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. today and one hour before services Tuesday at Mayer Funeral Home.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 91 and SPAM Post No. 570.

Michael D. Higgins 1946-2000
Michael David Higgins, 53, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, August 11,
2000, at Genesis West, Davenport, Iowa, after suffering cancer.
He was born December 7, 1946, at Sargeant, Mower county, Minnesota, to
Clifford Sr. and Esther Thompson Higgins.
He married Bernice Hess on Sept. 1, 1972, at Rock Island, Illinois.
He served in the Army from 1966 to 1968 and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1994. After retirement, he worked part time in maintenance at Parr Instrument Co., Moline, Ill.
Survivors include wife, Bernice, Moline, Illinois, daughter, Laura,
Moline, Illinois, three brothers, Clifford and Becky Higgins, Aitkin,
Minnesota, Richard and Mary Higgins, Bettendorf, Iowa, Jerry and Sandy
Higgins, East Moline, Illinois; and five sisters, Katie and Marvin Pater,
Lansing, Minn., Dorothy DeBoer, Lyle, Minn., Ethel and Earl Zalky, Ostrander,
Minn., Nancy Derst, Rochester, Minn., and Suzie and Terry Donovan, Plymouth,
Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, Ill.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline, Ill.
Interment: National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, with military rites by

Anna Katherine Hunter1913-2000
Anna Katherine Hunter, 87, of St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, died
Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Austin Medical Center.
She was born on January 26, 1913, to Paul and Anna (Sagut) Chrencik in
Chicago, Illinois. Anna married Harlan Hunter on January 27, 1951.
He preceded her in death on March 8, 1989. She also was preceded in
death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by brother, Paul Chrencik, Austin; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with Pastor Greg Mannel officiating.
Interment: Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs, Iowa. Casket bearers will be Richard Chrencik, John Chrencik, Michael Henderson, Jeremy Mostek, Jerome Mostek and Erick Olson.

Donald C. Beaver1913-2000
Donald C. Beaver, 86, of Austin died Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at
Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington, Minnesota.
He was born November 3, 1913, in Kasson, Minnesota, to Carl and Emma
(Hanson) Beaver. He graduated from Kasson High School. He married Ethel
Bartel on Sept. 12, 1934. He ran a filling station in Kasson until 1942,
when he and his family moved to Austin. Don then started working for Hormel
Foods Corp. until he retired in 1978.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Donovan (Jean) Beaver of Bonita Springs, Fla., David (Cathleen) Beaver of Minnetonka; daughters and sons-in-law, Louise (Dean) Lommen of Burnsville and Loretta Beaver of Austin; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Beaver of Kasson; nieces; nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Soloists at the funeral will be Debbie King Quale and the Rev. Cathy Mannel.
Casket bearers will be Mark, Eric and Kent Beaver, Kyle Lommen, Richard Tavis and Reuben Tverberg.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the Rev. Kristin K. Wee and the Rev. Gregg Mannel officiating.

Alyce M. (nee Nelson) Klapperick1918-2000
Alyce M. Klapperick, 82, of 1009 Second Ave. NW, died on Thursday,
August 10, 2000 at her home in Austin.
Alyce was born May 3, 1918, to Olena Exe and Nickolus Nelson. She married
Urban J. Klapperick on May 14, 1936. She was employed for 35 years with the
Hormel Foods Corp. Her hobbies included golfing, bowling, cards and she
also enjoyed her church.
She is survived by her husband Urban; daughter and son-in-law, MaryAnn
and Francis Heimer, LeCrescent, Minn.; daughter, Arlene Heimer, Austin;
son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Judy Klapperick, Big Lake, Minn; 14
grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, her parents and one son, Richard.
Service: Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery

Rev. William Carl Buchhop1927-2000
Rev. William Carl Buchhop, age 72, of Stewartville, Minnesota, died on
Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.
He was born on November 17, 1927, at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and married Jo Ann
Kreuger Hoffman on August 1, 1978, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pleasant
Valley Township,[ Mower county, Minnesota].
He grew up in Oshkosh and attended Trinity Lutheran School where his father was a teacher for many years. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary with a BD degree in 1952. He served as pastor at First Lutheran Church in Lloydminister, Alberta, Canada from 1952 to 1957; at Cass Lake and Blackduck, 1964 to 1967; Clements and Sanborn from 1967 to 1976. He has been pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sargeant and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley Township, Mower County from 1976 until his retirement and move to Stewartville in 1999.
He was a member of the Stewartville Lion's Church. He served as Circuit Youth Advisor; zone LWML Advisor; Circuit Counselor for the Rochester Circuit; and was an LLL Advisor for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; mother, Esther Buchhop, Napoleon, Ohio; stepson, David Buchhop, Rochester; stepdaughter, Cheryl (Charles) Boettcher, Hutchinson; four step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, three brothers, one step-daughter, one step granddaughter.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sargeant with the Rev. Ronald Prigge officiating.
Interment: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Pleasant Valley Township.
Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and 11 a.m. until one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday
