Clement John Falk, age 90, of Austin, Mower County, Minnesota, died on August 11, 2008 at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.

Clem was born July 23, 1918 in Stacyville, Iowa to Frank and Anna (Gerber) Falk. He graduated from Visitation High School. As a young man he worked for Theobold's Implement, and learned to fix anything mechanical. He attended sheet metal school in Des Moines before going to San Diego with a carload of local buddies in 1941. In San Diego he worked at Consolidated Aircraft during WW II. There he met Cecelia Warzel and they were married in Franklin Park, Illinois, in August 1943. Clem was proud of the many warplane design innovations he contributed to the war effort. Clem and Cele lived in Franklin Park following the war where he worked in sheet metal layout work until his retirement. He and Cele moved to Austin in the summer of 1991.

Clem was a member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Franklin Park, then St. Edward's Catholic Church in Austin. He boxed, and played all sports in his youth, and loved to dance. Clem enjoyed music, crossword puzzles, and working with his hands. He gave great hugs and loved to tease those that he loved. He was proud of his children and would take every opportunity to share this with those close to him.

Survivors include his children, Judy (Terry) Louck, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Sue (Tom) Dendinger, Norfolk, Neb., Greg (Diane) Falk, West Bend, Wisconsin; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Streit, Stacyville, Iowa, Martha Palmer, Santee, California; brother, Ernie Falk, Stacyville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Falk; his beloved wife, Cele on June 17, 2005; sisters, Susie, Sister Cajetan and Trudy.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father John Moser officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church and also at a luncheon following the service. Interment will be in Visitation Cemetery.

LuVerne E. “Lefty” Jorgenson, age 85, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 6, 2008 at the Austin Medical Center.

He was born May 8, 1923 in Albert Lea, Freeborn county, Minnesota, to Einer and Lillian (Schiager) Jorgenson. He graduated from Albert Lea High School. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946.

LuVerne married Norma Stalheim on September 10, 1948 in Albert Lea. He worked as a Federal Meat Inspector first for Wilson Foods in Albert Lea, then for the Rath Company in Waterloo, Iowa and finally for the George A. Hormel Company in Austin until his retirement.

LuVerne was a boxing fan and began collecting autographed photos of professional fighters when he was 16 years old. He continued to directly correspond with professional fighters, managers and promoters until the 1990’s, eventually amassing an impressive collection of autographed photos and a wide array of autographed boxing memorabilia.

He was a 26-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and died a sober man through God’s grace and the AA program.

LuVerne is survived by his three children: Fran (Duane) Charnecki, Austin, Dr. Michael (Cynthia) Jorgenson, Bloomington, Minnesota, Jerry Jorgenson, Minneapolis, Minnesota; by granddaughters, Sarah Klawitter, North Branch, Minnesota, Jodi Jorgenson and Matt Roth, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kellie Jorgenson, Bloomington; by four great-grandchildren: Lauren Klawitter, Marren Klawitter, Jacob Roth, Ethan Jorgenson; by a brother, Kenneth Jorgenson, Albert Lea, Minnesota; and by a sister, Delores Lenzen, Knoxville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Norma in 2003. Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside committal service on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Grandview Cemetery south of Austin. Olaf B. Damm Post #1216 Veterans of Foreign Wars in charge of military rites.

Glenn Krulish, age 87, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 5, 2008 at the Austin Medical Center.

Glenn William Krulish was born on September 13, 1920 in Bruce, South Dakota, to Frank R. and Elizabeth (Overocker) Krulish. Glenn attended school in Bruce, and then graduated from Austin High School. He entered the National Guard in 1939 and the Army in 1941. He served in Company H of the 135th Infantry, 34th division, The Red Bull division. During his enlistment he was stationed overseas in Ireland, Africa and Italy. Following his discharge from the army in 1945 he worked at a local dairy before starting his 35 year career with the Geo. A. Hormel Co. He retired in June of 1983.

Glenn married Jean Elizabeth Graves on July 14, 1946 at Brownsdale United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and belonged to the American Bowling Association. Glenn’s hobbies included bowling, golfing, fishing and water skiing.

Glenn is survived by his spouse, Jean Elizabeth Krulish, Austin, Minnesota; daughters and son-in-law: Cynthia (Steven) Gleason, Austin, Catherine Krulish, Osceola, Missouri; grandsons, Dominic Ciola, Minneapolis, Minn., Louis Ciola III, Austin, Texas; granddaughter, Elizabeth Krulish, Osceola; Step-grandson, Philip Gleason, Tallahassee, Fla.; step-granddaughters, Kara Gleason, Chicago, Ill., Marjorie Gleason, Chicago; sisters, Helen Krulish, Lyle, Minn., Lucille Giannou, Phoenix, Ariz., Evelyn Pettis, Austin, Minn., Beverly (Marvin) Adams, Stacyville, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Eva Belle Krulish, Lyle, Deloris Krulish, Austin, Minn; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a son-in-law, Louis Ciola, Jr.

Funeral services for Cecil W. Patterson of rural Stacy were conducted from the Carlson Funeral Home, Cambridge, Minnesota on Wednesday, November 21, 1973, with Rev. David Bode officiating. Donald Larson sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Rock Of Ages. " Mrs. Del Larson was the organist. Graveside services were conducted at the Oakwood Cemetery, Austin, Minnesota on Friday, November 23, 1973 at 2 o'clock.

Cecil Patterson was born at Greenbush, Illinois on May 3, 1904, the son of Albert and Kittie Mae [Kennedy] Patterson and here he spent his childhood days. He lived In Lansing, Minnesota for several years where he showed horses;

In 1946 he was united In marriage to Bernice Chapman and In November of 1946 they moved to the farm near Weber which has since been their home. Mrs. Patterson preceded her husband in death in 1957.

Mr. Cecil Patterson passed away suddenly in his home on Monday, November 19, 1973 at the age of 69.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Orland (Julain) Earl, Minneapolis, two sons, Wayne, rural Stacy and Roger. Minneapolis, four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Walter (Lulu) Tonne, Fairmont, Minnesota. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Ralph and Floyd.

Bernice Inez Patterson, daughter of Dan and Bertha Pharnes Chapman, was born in Austin, Minn., on Dec. 2, 1906, and passed away at Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, Minnesota, on March 12, 1957, at the age of 50 years.

She received her education in the Austin public schools and on February 11, 1944, she was united in marriage with Cecil W. Patterson at Albert Lea, Minnesota.

In 1946, they moved to Stacy, Minnesota, where she has resided until the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, Cecil; two sons, Wayne Keith and Roger Eugene Patterson; one daughter, Miss Julain Kay Roebuck, one sister, Mary Ann E. Warrington; two brothers, Donald Chapman of Dallas,Ore. and Irvin Chapman of St. Ansgar, Iowa and two half-brothers, William and Lloyd Chapman of Austin, Minn.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Carlson Funeral Chapel, Cambridge, and on Friday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at the Jordan Chapel with the Rev. Herman H. Kooy, officiating. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Doris Belle Hall, and a half-brother, William J. Johnson.

Mrs. B. E. Stimson died at her home, at 310 Lansing Avenue, Wednesday evening at 7:30, after being ill with heart trouble for about two years. Her struggle against disease was a heroic one, shared by her loved ones and especially her husband who has devoted his life to her care. Since last July physicians had held out no hope of recovery, but she rallied with surprising recuperative power and was able to be about the house until about two weeks ago last Sunday.

Eliza A. Symes was born in Trumble county, Ohio, December 30, 1846, where she lived until about eight years of age, removing with her parents to Wisconsin. In 1862 the family came to Minnesota, settling on a farm in Udolpho adjoining with the Stimson farm. November 11, 1866, she was married to Mr. B. E. Stimson and the went to housekeeping on the Udolpho farm which was their home until fifteen years ago last March when they moved to Austin built a home on Lansing avenue.

To them were born nine children of whom are living; Charles, Winfred, and Fred in Winnebago, George in Sargeant, Burt in Lansing, Mrs. Alice McGown in Waltham, Emma Chaffee in Freeborn, Lulu Dunfee in Austin and Henry in Burwin, Illinois. Up to this the family circle has been unbroken, which is rare in a family so large. There have been many wedding celebrations in this home but they have been spared the sorrow of a funeral.

Mrs Stimson was an attendant of the Congregational church and a member of the Relief Corps. She was one of those fine, adorable women who love their home and give the best of their life to its duties and to her family. Kindness was native to her character, and neighbors and friends the memory of her unselfish. In her death the work of an ideal wife and mother is done.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 from the home on Lansing avenue, Rev. F. R. Knopf of the Congregational church officating and the internment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery."

Marjorie A. Ricke, age 70, of Grand Meadow, Mower county, Minnesota, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at her home.

Marjorie Hanson was born on May 5, 1938 in Fillmore County, Minnesota, to Herman and Mary (McRae) Hanson. She attended and graduated from Rochester VoTech College. On May 5, 1973 Marge married Richard Ricke, in Adams, Minnesota.

Marge lived 12 wonderful years after she was a heart transplant recipient in 1996 and she also received a kidney in 2001 from her sister. She was a member of the United Church of Grand Meadow and also was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was known as “Grandma Marge” to everyone.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, Grand Meadow; by her five children: Susie (Bruce) Morse, LeRoy, Minnesota, Dawn (Dominic) Stier, Grand Meadow, Tom (Deb) Gardner, Grand Meadow, Steve (Molly) Gardner, Willmar and Scott (Allyson) Gardner, Maple Grove; by five step-children: Mike Ricke, Albert Lea, Cindy (Gary) Ziegler of Lyle, Larry (Cindy) Ricke, Denny Ricke, and Sue Adams all of Austin; by 11 grandchildren; by eight great-grandchildren; by 14 step-grandchildren, by seven step-great-grandchildren; and by five siblings: Cecil Hanson, Herman (Sonny) Hanson both of LeRoy, Marion Griffin, Mary Fergusen both of Chatfield, and Lois Krueger of Houston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by two sisters, Alice and Agnes; and by two brothers, Bob and Luck.

Funeral services for Marjorie Ann Ricke were held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the United Church of Grand Meadow. Burial was in the St. Finbarr Cemetery.

John Robert Perrin, age 89, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospice on August 9, 2008 after a recent illness.

He was born on April 30, 1919 in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Lona L. and Neva (Airy) Perrin of Maryville, Missouri. John graduated from St. Paul Central High in 1937. He was inducted into the Army in 1941 and served with the 14th Armored Division in France and Germany until 1946. He continued to serve his country in the Reserve Corps until his retirement as a Colonel in 1979.

Following his active duty from the Army, he moved to Austin and met Dolores C. Huinker. They were married on June 22, 1946. Dolores died on September 11, 1968, of cancer.

John was a Central Office Foreman for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Austin for 35 years. There he met Marcella Schaefer of Adams, Minnesota, and they were married on December 20, 1975.

John was a member of the Austin American Legion, the Elks Club of Austin and Christ Episcopal Church. He was an avid amateur genealogist. He and his wife, Marci, spent many winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama, after their retirements.

John is survived by his spouse of 32 years, Marcella; daughter, Patricia (Russell) Smidt, Austin; sons, James (Joanie) Perrin, Austin, Steven (Terri), San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Mischa, Seth, Alexandra, Michael, Christine, Jennifer and Erin; 12 great-grandchildren; younger sister, Alice (Lyon), Billings, Mont.; older brother, Franklin Perrin, Lacey, Wash., nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; his parents; younger brother, Douglas Perrin; brother-in-law, Robert Lyon and sister-in-law, Jeanne Perrin.

A memorial service was held at Christ Episcopal Church in Austin, Minnesota on Thursday, August 14, 2008. Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Clasen-Jordan Mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Dorothy Viletta Rochford, age 97, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 9, 2008 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home.

Dorothy was born on June 2, 1911 in Mason City, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa to William and Eleanor (McClelland) Placek. In 1929 she graduated from Austin High School. On June 9, 1949 she married Durward Rochford, and they were married for 26 years before his death on September 13, 1975.

Dorothy was a retired bookkeeper, having worked at Leuthold's Clothing store. Dorothy loved to travel and in 1993 she went to China. She enjoyed fishing, dancing in her younger years, reading, and listening to music. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include many cousins and friends, as well as a special cousin, Babe and her family.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, William and Eleanor Placek and sister, Harriet Placek.

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 15, 2008 at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery south of Austin.

The casket bearers were: Marcia Ferguson, Monica Rollie, Margie Bednar, Steve Michels, Michele Johnson, Melody Barnes, Marie Stewart and Marlene LeBarron.

The Mayer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Glenn Everett Joseph, age 38, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 8, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Glenn was born August 23, 1969, in Austin the son of Glenn E. and Yvonne “Sid” (Lee) Joseph. He attended school in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1989. Following graduation, Glenn worked as a cook for various restaurants including the Austin Country Club and most recently at Grumpy’s in Grand Meadow. He loved spending time with his friends and family.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, Alicia Joseph, Austin; mother, Sid (Mike) Shahan, Gilbert, Arizona; two sisters, Terry Lee Donovan, Austin and Jamie Shahan of Mesa, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn E. Joseph; by a brother, Robert Donovan; and by his grandparents.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Crane Chapel. Interment followed the service in Grandview Cemetery, south of Austin. The Worlein Funeral Home of Austin handled funeral arrangements.

G. M. "Tommy" Thompson, 85, of Byron, Minnesota, died on Aug. 9, 2008 at his home. He was born on January 19, 1923 in Austin, Mower county, Minnesota. "Tommy" created the Rochester Rural Fire Department as well as a number of other Rochester businesses in the 50's and 60's. He married Margaret Thibault on Feb. 27, 1943, just before entering the Army Air Force as a radio operator. He was a WW II Veteran. Mr. Thompson was noted for establishing many "firsts" for the City of Rochester. They include, Diamond and Gold Cross Ambulances; Rochester Rural Fire Department; FISCO Security Patrol; FISCO Armored Car; FISCO Printing and Rochester Mobile Telephone Company and Answering Service. For many years he had been Federal Warning's top producer in the sale of Outdoor Warning Sirens; he was till active with Federal Warning up to his death on Saturday.

He was involved in many community organizations, including: Civil Defense, Chamber of Commerce, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus, the Boy Scouts, the Rochester Olmsted County Safety Council, Better Business Bureau, Arc of Southern Minnesota and more. He loved gardening, reading, history, riding his 4-wheeler, the Minnesota Twins, playing cards and being with family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; five daughters, Faline (Kevin) Gossman, Rochester; Ginger (Dick) Craven, Wayzata, Minn., Mychelle (Jim) Maronde, Rochester, Theresa Churchill, Pine Island; Melanie (Mark) Keefe, Chatfield; two sons, Timothy (Susan) Thompson, Chanhassen and Vance Thompson, Rochester; siblings, Judy Moon, Austin; Nancy Tripp, California; Benjamin Thompson, Utah; Wanda (Bud) Overby, Austin; Ronald (Lorraine) Thompson, Ft. Meyer, Fla.; Dan (Carol) Thompson, Fairfax, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with the Reverend Thomas Loomis officiating.

Leone Loomis died on August 11, 2008. She was born to Louie and Leona Koester on March 17, 1939, in rural Austin, Minnesota.

In 1950 she with her parents moved to Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. She married Karl Hueners. To this union, three children were born. She went to Germany to be with Karl while he was in the service. Her children are Mike Hueners of Powell Butte, Ore., Dean Hueners of Lakeport, Calif., and Monica Valenzuella of San Roman, Calif. Karl and Leone were divorced. She married Jim Navarra. They divorced. Later she married Art Loomis. They lived in Arizona, where he was a line man for The Associated Press.

She is survived by her three children and eight stepchildren and 18 grandchildren. Also, her husband Art and brother, Leroy Koester of Albert Lea, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lloyd Koester.

Funeral services for Harold Kinney, 67, of Albert Lea will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Assemblies of God Church. The Rev. Lee Freshour will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County veterans organizations. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Harold died Monday, August 11, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Harold was born on May 28, 1941, to John and Bertha (Moritz) Kinny in Austin. He graduated from Austin High School in 1959. Harold was united in marriage to Judith Raines on Nov. 22, 1961, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963. After his discharge, Harold worked as an auto mechanic for Murphy Auto Freight in Austin. Harold and Judy moved to Albert Lea in 1969 where he worked in property management.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; children, Debra Huffman and Greg Phillips of Kansas City, Mo, Darla (Roger) Frye of Waseca, Rebecca (Thomas) Dokken of Canyon City, Colo., Bridgett (Todd) Coughlin both of Albert Lea, Dawn Pike of Bricelyn; grandchildren, Nicole (Tim), Brandon (Jenny), Tanya (Matt), Kelly Jo (Ryan), Joshawa, Rebecca, Cassandra, and Kathy, Justin, Amber (Todd), Sean (Rachael), Bobbie Jo (Matt), Jody and Jennifer, Todd, Adam, Jason (Erin), Amanda, Chase and Coutney, Gage and Rickey; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Delbert and Karen Kinny of Austin, and David and Mary Kinney of Faribault; and sisters, Bernitta Gilpen of St. Paul, and Bonnie and John Funk of St. Joseph, and many nieces and nephews.

Harold wished to leave a special statement: “Thank you to Pastor Freshour for his love and for helping me to cross over into eternity to my Father’s house. Dr. Shelhamer and his wonderful nurse Kris, who worked so hard to give me all the extra time here on earth and for all the laughter and comfort they gave me. But, Doctor and Nurse, you should have worked a little harder — I still owe you money. I thought you wanted me to live until I at least paid my bill. You guys are great; you always made me laugh.”

Clayton L. Ingvalson, age 85, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, and formerly of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, died at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center in Austin Thursday morning, Aug. 14, 2008. Clayton was born May 28, 1923 to Bennett and Hilda (Nelson) Ingvalson in Udolpho Township near Blooming Prairie, Minn, where he grew up and farmed.

He married Lorene J. Hagen on Nov. 13, 1948 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie where he later served on the Church Council and as sexton and board member of First Lutheran Cemetery.

A member of the Farmers Union, Moose Lodge and Blooming Prairie School Board, he drove school bus, and they liked to take bus trips, including one to Alaska. He sold seed corn also. Clayton and Lorene moved to Austin in 1998.

Survivors include his wife: Lorene Ingvalson, of Austin; daughters: Sandra (Lonnie) Vanek, of Austin, Laurie (Robert Viner) Bremer, Oronoco, Minnesota; two grandsons, Benjamin and Aaron; a sister, Esther Hansen, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Oliver (Shar) Hagen, Spicer; Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Gertie Ellis, Austin, Minnesota, and Gretchen (Forrie) Claussen, Albert Lea, Minnesota; and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Selmer Ellis; by a nephew, Steve Prihoda; and by other relatives: Jean, Bill and Margaret Prihoda, and Carlo Hansen.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 18, 2008, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie.

Todd Seavey, age 47, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, and formerly of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died Thursday August 14, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Olmsted county, Minnesota.

Todd James Seavey was born Sept., 28, 1960 in Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, to Gerald and Clarice (Miller) Seavey. He graduated from Austin High School in 1979. Todd worked in the construction industry, eventually owning construction businesses around the Twin Cities and also a restaurant in Blaine, Minn. He enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his motorcycles, NASCAR races, and most of all his three children, Adam, Megan and Cody.

Survivors include his mother, Clarice Seavey, Austin, Minnesota; a sister, Jennifer (Kyle) Hendrikson, Litchfield, Minnesota; his ex-wife, Cindy Seavey of Burnsville, Minnesota; three children: Adam, Megan and Cody of Burnsville, Minn.; fiancee: Traci Geraghty, Apple Valley, Minnesota; and many other relatives.

His father preceded him in death in 2005.

A celebration of life for Todd will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2008, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 107 11th Street NE, Austin, Minnesota. Burial of his ashes will be at a private location at a later date.

Genevieve D. Johnson, age 93, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 16, 2008, at Austin Medical Center. Genevieve Deloris Schubert was born April 18, 1915 in Canton, Minn., to Edward Paul and Hilda Claudine (Nupson) Schubert. Following graduation from Austin High School, she married Alfred Johnson on Aug. 6, 1933 in Glenville. They raised three children, Jerome, Terry, and Brian. Gen was a homemaker, worked at an insurance office and was the cafeteria manager at Austin Public Schools for 22 years.

Her husband, Alfred, died on Jan. 30, 1999. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Gen liked reading, handwork and especially enjoyed fishing. She made numerous baptismal napkins for St. Olaf Church and knit baby caps for St. Olaf Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Jerome (Gloria) Johnson, Las Vegas, Nev., Terry Johnson, San Jose, Calif., Brian (Sally) Johnson, Duluth, Minn.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Nelson, Austin; sisters-in-law, Esther Torgerson, Woodbury; Grace Johnson, Austin; brother-in-law, Emory Johnson, Austin; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Alfred.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Visitation is from 4 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Memorials are preferred to St. Olaf Lutheran Church Wee Learning Center or St. Olaf Lutheran Church Capital Fund Campaign.

Leona Cotter, age 95, of Enfield, Connecticut, died on August 7, 2008.

Born in Oakland, Minnesota, on July 8, 1913, Leona was the daughter of Leo and Mayme (Cafourek) Cotter. She graduated from Austin High School and the University of Minnesota. She was in the Women's Army Corp during WW II and later resided in Washington, D.C., while employed by the Office of Intelligence. Following her retirement, she resided in Somers, Connecticut.

She is survived by sister-in-laws, Adeline Cotter, Fallbrook, Calif. and Grace Cotter, Austin; nieces Marlene Helsene, Fallbrook, Calif., Carole Finnerty, San Diego, Calif., Janice Schmitz, Seattle, Wash., Karen Johnsrud, Clarks Grove, Minn. and Judith Welch Kitchen, Bakersville, N.C.; nephew, Frederick Cotter, Chattanooga, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard, Clair, Laverne and Kenneth; nieces, Ruth Marie Cotter and Sandra Nelson; and nephew, Richard Cotter.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on August 11, 2008 at St. Joseph's Residence Chapel in Enfield. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Windsor Locks, Connecticut.

Frederick E. Robinson, age 61, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died peacefully in his home on Sunday Aug. 17, surrounded by his family after a year's battle with a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor.

Fred was born in Lower Newton Falls, Massachusetts, and lived the early years of his life on the East Coast before moving to Minneapolis and then to Austin, where he attended elementary through high school. He graduated from Austin High School in 1965 and received his degree from the University of Minnesota in 1969. Following graduation, Fred was the co-founder and president of Robinson Business Forms. He later founded Austra Aircraft Rental and then Tecstra Systems. He was loyal to family and friends and loved nature and the outdoors. Fred truly valued community and took a genuine interest in building relationships with people.

Fred is survived by his wife, Meridee Ann Robinson, Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly (Rick) Carlsen, Plymouth, Minn.; son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan (Amy) Robinson, St. Louis Park, Minnesota; grandchildren, Callie and William Carlsen; sister and brother-in-law: Diana (Norm) Hageboeck, Wayzata, Minn.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Stuart and Nancy Warrington, Sheboygan, Wis., Mark and Ann Warrington, Red Wing, Minn., Diane Crane and Bets Reedy, Houston, Minn.; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Esther Robinson

A memorial service was held on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Andrew M. Lindahl officiating. The organist will be Dori Schou with vocalists, The Bissen Family and Peter and Cassie Walker. Honorary Bearers will be Steve and Sarah Kumagai, Peter and Bonnie Tangren, Craig and Jane Johnson, Scott and Cathy Richardson.

Fred's body has been bequeathed to the Mayo Foundation Anatomical Program. The Classen-Jordan Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Michael Hugh Haider, 82 of Austin, passed away at his residence on August 14, 2008.

He was born on February 14, 1926 in Beulah, North Dakota, to Michael and Alice (McLaughlin) Haider. Michael served in World War II and spent 20 years in the military. Michael married his wife Akiko in Japan and they had a son, Mark. After retiring from the military, Michael worked for the BATF and retired in 1982. Michael and his wife lived in White Bear Lake, Minn., for thirty six years and moved to Austin in May of 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Akiko; son, Mark (Laurie); grandchildren, Michael and Nicole; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother .

A memorial service was held on Friday, August 22, at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4343 Nicollet Ave. South, Mpls. Interment was at the Ft. Snelling National cemetery.

Victor “Junior” Shade, 85, of Austin, died at Adams Health Care Center on Aug. 17, 2008.

He was born March 11, 1923 to Victor G. and Leila (Kolb) Shade in rural Austin, where he grew up and was raised in the Methodist faith. He attended Cedar City Country School through eighth grade, enrolled in Austin High School for grades nine through twelve and graduated in 1941. Victor worked on the family farm until 1968, when he moved to Arizona. He married Wilma Thorpe on July 26, 1975 in Royal Oak, Mich. Victor brought Wilma to Minnesota where they returned to the home place.

Known as "The Pumpkin Man," Victor loved raising pumpkins and being outdoors. He liked horses and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, catching turtles and doing puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma, Adams; children, James, Kingman, Arizona, Cathy, Las Vegas, Nev., Larry (Karen), Woodbridge, Va., William "Bill" (Debbie), Kingman, Ariz., Rebecca, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jessica, Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister, Janice Shade, Whittier, Calif.; brother, LuVerne Whitcomb; a stepson in Michigan and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, John and Robert; stepdaughter, April.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Friends may call for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the family.

Gregory Gene Corey, age 53, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on Aug. 18, 2008 in Rochester, Olmsted county, Minnesota.

Greg was born Feb. 7, 1955 in Winona, Minnesota, to Richard and Delores (Pavek) Corey. The family moved to Austin in 1960. Greg attended Austin Public Schools, graduated from Austin High School in 1974, then entered the carpentry program at RCC-then Austin Community College. He completed the course and went on to hold various positions in the carpentry industry. Greg married Marla VanSteenvoort in 1979; the union brought them two sons. They later divorced. Greg and Elizabeth were united in marriage briefly, and later divorced.

He was employed at Cedar Valley Services at the time of his death. He had been involved in carpentry here for many years. He greatly enjoyed woodworking, riding his bike and being among family and friends. Greg will be sadly missed, blessed be his memory.

Survivors include two sons, Jeremy (Beth) Corey, Big Lake, Minn., Joseph Corey, Coon Rapids; four brothers, Steve (Cheryl) Corey, Austin, Wayne Corey, Lakewood, Colo., Lee (Helene) Corey, Orangeburg, N.Y., Jay (Tammy) Corey, Austin.

He was to become a first-time Grandpa, twice, in November and March. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and good friends.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Delores Corey as well as his Pavek and Corey grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Money Creek Cemetery in Houston County. Arrangements by Mayer Funeral Home.

Gary P. Erickson of Owatonna, Minnesota, died on August 18, 2008 at his home.

Gary was born in Austin, Mower county, Minnesota on January 6, 1946 the son of Lloyd F. and Eleanor E. (McAlister) Erickson. Gary attended school in Austin and was a member of the graduating class of 1964 at Austin High School. Gary continued his education at Austin Vocational School in auto mechanics for two years.

He was united in marriage to Mary Schlichter on June 13, 1970 at St. Edwards Catholic church in Austin. The couple made their home in Owatonna raising two children. Gary worked for Owatonna Tool Company and for Power Team for 31 years. Later he worked at Alflex in Northfield until he retired in 2006. Gary enjoyed his work as well as his co-workers at OTC and Power Team. He was a member of the Owatonna Eagles, Rochester Golden Eagles Motorcycle Club and the American Motorcycle Association. His life interests include being an avid motorcycle enthusiast with both on and off road bikes, as well as camping, hunting and fishing.

Gary is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary; son, Bradley (Trisha Foster) and Payden Foster; daughter, Julie Erickson all of Owatonna; brother, James (Connie) Erickson, Rochester, Minn.; sisters, Jeanne (Garth) Seavey, Austin, Minn., Sharon (David) Hall, Savage.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian burial is set for Thursday August 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minn., with the Reverend Edward Mc Grath officiating. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday Aug. 20, 2008 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Brick - Meger Funeral Home. Their will be a 7:30 p.m. wake service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Friends attending the funeral are encouraged to ride their motorcycles in procession to Sacred Heart Cemetery. OSAGE, IOWA - Bridget Elizabeth "Betty" Driscoll Start, 102, of Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, and formerly of LeRoy, Mower county, Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in LeRoy, Minnesota.

Lorraine Skifter, 85, of Grand Meadow, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 22, 2008 at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center in Grand Meadow where she had resided since April of this year.

Lorraine was born on August 30, 1922 to Willis Drinkall and Verna (Warner) Drinkall in rural Spring Valley. She attended country schools through the eighth grade, and on January 18, 1942 she was united in marriage to Ralph Skifter in Austin. To this union eight children were born.

Lorraine was a home maker and she enjoyed camping, traveling, canning and gardening.

She is survived by her children, Judy (Richard) Miller, Humboldt, Iowa, James (Marceil) Skifter, Grand Meadow, Jane Threlkeld, LeRoy, Jerry (Karen) Skifter, Grand Meadow, Jay (Deb) Skifter, Grand Meadow, Joe Skifter and Special Friend (Chuck Peterson), Minneapolis, Julie Skifter, Austin and Janet (Robin) Lorenzen, Grand Meadow; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph in 1992 and sister, Wilma Farmer.

Funeral services for Lorraine Skifter were held at on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church in Grand Meadow, Minn., with the Reverend Ann Siverling officiating. Hindt Funeral Home - Grand Meadow. Burial was in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Rural Grand Meadow.

Delbert Bruce Adams, 82, of Austin, Mower conty, Minnesota, died on August 22, 2008 at Good Samaritan Society Comforcare.

He was born July 12, 1926 in Forest City, Iowa to Victor and Eva (Fisher) Adams. Delbert served in the Army during World War II. After the war Delbert worked at Weyerhauser. On September 29, 1951, Delbert married Irene "Hoppy" Smith in Austin.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). The Adams' enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and doing crafts.

Delbert is survived by his son, Darrel Adams, Sioux City, Iowa; by a step-son, Marlen (Betty) Dingman, Missouri; by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and by great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene "Hoppy" Adams and his siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with Brett Asay officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery south of Austin with Olaf B. Damm #1216, Veteran of Foreign Wars and Austin Post #91, American Legion, in charge of military rites.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. George W. Stahl, 87, of Austin died on August 25, 2008, at St. Marks Lutheran Home.

Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Wisconsin in 1942. During World War II, he served in the United States Army for 39 months, stationed at Guadalcanal in the South Pacific and attained the rank of lieutenant.

After the war he returned to the University of Wisconsin where he received his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1950. Dr. Stahl moved to Minnesota where he completed his internship and residency in surgical urology at Ancker and Miller hospitals in St. Paul under Dr. F.E.B. Foley. From 1954 to 1986, he practiced his specialty, surgical urology, at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea and Owatonna Hospital.

Dr. Stahl was coroner of Mower County for over forty-four years and a member of American Urological Association, Minnesota Medical Association, American Medical Association, Minnesota Urological Society, National Association of Medical Examiners, Mower County Medical Association and American Board of Forensic Examiners.

Survivors include two sons, Greg W. Stahl and Tracy E. Stahl of Denver, Colorado.

Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Per the family's wishes, there will be no funeral services.

Betty Hoeper, age 80, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 23, 2008 at her home with her family by her side after her battle with cancer.

She was born February 2, 1928 in San Juan Capistrano, California, to Lloyd and Hazel (Frye) Fisher. As a small child Betty moved to Chisholm, Minnesota, and after several moves she landed in Austin where she graduated from Austin High School. She married Robert Hoeper on October 5, 1946 and enjoyed 58 years of married life before Robert's death in 2004. They resided in Austin and after retirement they moved to Arizona for ten years before returning to Austin.

Betty was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary and active with several other area organizations. She enjoyed several hobbies, including, bowling, crafts, and shopping.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Robert and by her son, Terry.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Darla (Roger) Siefker, Tempe, Arizona; grandchildren, Ryan Siefker and Michelle Mahenski, Mesa, Arizona, Carrie and Ryan Martin, Apache Junction, Arizona, Robyn and Jake Spruill, Flagstaff, Ariz., Tammy and Duane Smith, Austin, Michele "Missy" Hoeper and Jay Kisner, Austin; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ralph and Helen Hoeper, Albert Lea, Minnesota; Margaret Hoeper, Austin; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Fellowship United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery south of Austin. The organist was Marilyn Sabin and the flutist was Ashley Smith. The Clasen-Jordan Mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Sinnie Minnie Gaul, age 83, of Austin, Mower county, Minnesota, died on August 24, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She was born March 25, 1925, in Red Rock Township, rural Brownsdale, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Tammen) Konken. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Dexter, Minn. She attended school at District 42 Country School near her home. After completing her education, Sinnie worked in the lard room at Geo A. Hormel Company for five years.

On September 27, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harold Gaul in Austin. After their marriage, the couple lived and farmed the Martin Bustad farm south of Austin until 1980, when they moved into Austin. Sinnie helped her sister-in-law with the baking at the North Star Truck Stop in Austin. Sinnie also enjoyed crocheting and needle point work. She was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and since 1980, has been a faithful member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church of Austin.

Sinnie is survived by her husband, Harold Gaul, Austin; by three children: Nancy (Allen) Paape, Waltham, Harold (Vickie) Gaul, Jr. and Robert Gaul all of Austin; son-in-law, Roger Wolff, Houston, Texas; by eight grandchildren: Jenny (Ryan) Chose, Brian Paape, Scott (Suzanne) Wolff, Nick Wolff, Jon (Michelle) Gaul, Dustin Gaul, Cory Gaul and Carrie Gaul; by five great-grandchildren: Christian, Cecily and Caine Wolff, Abbi Chose and Devin Leoffler; and by four brothers and sisters: Fred “Fritz” (Margaret) Konken, Brownsdale, Grace (Mike) Miner, Winona, Florence Beyer, Green Leaf, Wisconsin, and Walt (Bernice) Konken, Austin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by a daughter, Mary Ann Wolff in 2000; by two grandchildren, Casey and Christopher Gaul; and by seven brothers and sisters: Metta Garnatz, Sophie Jensen, Ella Peterson, John Konken, Ed Konken, Rosie Konken and Ben Konken.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Austin. Interment followed the service in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin was in charge of arrangements.

The Reverend Ernest Manville Johnson, 85, of Blooming Prairie died on August 20, 2008 at Prairie Manor Care Center.

Ernest was born on November 24, 1922 to Magnus Sven and Elizabeth Knutiane (Olson) Johnson in Linton, N.D. He grew up in Benton Lake, Mont., where he attended elementary country school. After attending Simms High School in Fairfield, Montana he joined the Army Air Corps where he served as a Tech Sergeant from November 23, 1942 until his discharge on June 7, 1947.

After an honorable discharge, Ernest enrolled in a Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle, Washington. He continued his education at Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Washington, where he graduated in 1953. Having majored in biology and industrial arts, he entered the mission field where he served in Cameroon, Africa. On September 19, 1953, he married Helen Johansen in Seattle. She died on March 27, 1958. He married Evelyn Jolson on June 11, 1961 in Cameroon, Africa. After a time, he returned to the States to attend Luther Seminary in St. Paul. He was ordained on June 6, 1971.

While serving in Cameroon, Pastor Johnson, taught Bible School and served as President of the Northern Region of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. After a total of 27 years in Cameroon, Pastor Johnson and his wife returned to the United States in 1980 to serve as a Pastor on the Devils Lake Sioux Indian Reservation in Tokio, N.D., until his retirement in 1987 when he and Evelyn moved to Blooming Prairie. Pastor Johnson was Chaplain at American Legion Post 52 in Blooming Prairie.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Johnson, Blooming Prairie; three sons, Daniel (Susan) Johnson, East Springfield, Pennsylvania, Maj. Edward (Molly) Johnson, Devils Lake, North Dakota, Chaplain Maj. David (Tricia) Johnson, Bismarck, North Dakota; two daughters, Ruth Johnson, Austin, Anne (Shadrick) Rudlong, Blooming Prairie; 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Shelby, Aaron, Caleb, Micah and Isaac Johnson, Jake, Hunter, Alexa and Gracie Rudlong.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Magnus; his first wife; Helen Johnson and two brothers, Alfred and Leslie Johnson.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, (Mower county, Minnesota) rural Blooming Prairie, with the Reverend Gene Leiter officiating. Interment was at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery with VFW Post 878 and American Legion Post 52 escort.

The Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
