Roger D. Kamp, 67, of Forest City, Iowa, died on September 22, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center, in Mason City, Iowa.
Roger Duane Kamp, the son of Vernon Henry and Mildred Louise (Steile) Kamp, was born July 24, 1940, in Austin, Minnesota. He attended the rural schools near Brownsdale, Minnesota. Roger served his country in the Army, and was stationed in Germany.
On Nov. 27, 1965, he married Virginia Mary Earl at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Austin. They lived in Forest City, Iowa, where Roger was employed at Winnebago Industries for 35 years, retiring in January 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of Forest City; by three children: Sue Leuwerke and special friend, Steve Sprecher, Scarville, Bruce (Deb) Kamp, Leland, and Barb Wolf (Scott), Forest City; by grandchildren, SPC Matthew Leuwerke, CPL Andrew (Cristy) Leuwerke, Kristin Leuwerke, and Justin Wolf; by brothers and sisters: Joyce (Cliff) Carlson, St. Paul, Minnesota; Jean Thompson of Forest City; Laverne (Jerry) Kamp, Austin, Minnesota; Patty (Bernard) Schaeffer, Austin; David (Mary) Kamp, Austin; Charlie Kamp, Hook, Texas; Rita (Arnold) Earl, Austin; Karen (John) Torvik, California; Doug Kamp, Austin; Keith Kamp, Austin; Debbie (Leonard) Wood, Owatonna; Minnesota, Scott (Denise) Kamp, Austin; Marjorie Distad, Albert Lea, Minnesota; and Linda (Jerry) Meyer, Pepin, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his parents-in-law; by a sister, Joanne Lester; by brothers, Raymond and Rick Kamp; by sister-in-law, Margaret Kamp; and by brothers-in-law: Roger Distad, Don Earl and Joe Earl.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, in Forest City, with the Rev. John Planz officiating. Burial was in Madison Township Cemetery. Military rites were provided by the Forest City Veterans Ceremonial Unit.
