Steven John Logterman

1974-2018

Surrounded by his loving family at their Lakeville, Minnesota, home, Steven John Logterman, 43, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018. Steve valiantly battled ALS for four years.

Steve was born on Sept. 21, 1974, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Stan and Carolyn (Boviall) Logterman. Having resided in several states prior to seventh grade, Steve’s family relocated to Austin, Minnesota, in 1987. He graduated from Austin High School in 1993 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on a Division 1 scholarship for swimming. He later transferred to the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1998 with a bachelor of science degree in Management Information Systems. Steve carried a strong work ethic, and had a fierce, competitive nature. After several years as a vice president of Fidelity Bank in Edina, Minnesota, Steve retired in 2016 due to his health.

Steve met his future bride, Emily (Koerner) in 2005, and they were united in marriage on Oct. 6, 2007, in Minneapolis.

He was devoted to his beautiful wife and their children, Desmond, 7 and Ayla, 6. As a family, they enjoyed family trips to Breezy Point, family holiday gatherings in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the Minnesota Zoo, neighborhood walks and the park, school activities and events, and attending the Minnesota United Soccer games. The family always enjoyed grilling out. The kids’ highlight of a summer day was meeting their dad for lunch in the city. Steve was able to coach Des’ Little League baseball team prior to physical disability, and in recent days before his passing, he was still coaching Des from the porch overlooking the backyard. He was continually encouraging their children in all aspects of their development and interests.

Steve and Emily enjoyed running in numerous 5K’s together, with their children cheering. Attending area concerts with friends was enjoyed, especially the Dave Matthews Band, performing in Wisconsin. He had an exemplary repertoire of vinyls. Steve and Emily enjoyed trying local breweries and visiting new restaurants which was always an exploration with a critique to follow. There were many fond memories of themed family camps in Austin at his parents’ home, with extended family.

Steve (aka Lawgs) will continue to be remembered as a loyal and strong, friend and colleague; a solid guy who had wonderful compassion for people and life, a sharp wit and a great laugh. With “Steve Spirit,” he carried close to his heart the relationships from middle school through high school, college, his family and professional life.

Steve and his family were extremely honored with the Lawgsfest benefit concert held in July 2017 in Austin. In January 2018, Steve was inducted into the Austin High School Sports Hall of Fame for which he felt so honored and humbled. The AHS swim team, AHS track and cross country and Minnesota Youth Soccer League were all components that fueled his competitive spirit. By nature, Steve was extremely competitive; however, he often remarked that the camaraderie and teamwork were the most meaningful components that carried him beyond his high school years. He was extremely proud of his team at Fidelity Bank as well.

He is survived by his loving wife, Emily; and their children, Desmond and Ayla of Lakeville. Their dog, Oscar, was very loyal to Steve and he remains loyal to the family. Steve is further survived by his parents, Stan and Carolyn Logterman of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; his sister, Kelly, and brother-in-law, Sailin Benedum; niece, Ella; nephew, Riley of Sussex, Wisconsin; his grandmother, Jeanette Logterman of Delavan, Wisconsin; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Steve is also survived by his father-in-law and mother in-law, Lamont and Becky Koerner of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota; his brother-in-law and sister-in law, Tim and Ashley Koerner, and their son, Lewis.

Preceding him in death were Steve’s maternal grandparents; his paternal grandfather; and his infant niece, Hannah Benedum.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Michael Gleason and the Fairview Hospice Team of Burnsville, Minnesota. In addition, the family’s caregivers provided wonderful support for which the family is very thankful. The family further acknowledges with appreciation, the ALS Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapter for their assistance.

Steve, in true “Steve Spirit,” gave us a gift: he taught us much about life with his steadfast courage, dignity, laughter and love for his dear family and many friends.

Family and friends may visit at from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 3930 Rahn Rd in Eagan, Minnesota. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tom Jenkins officiating. A catered luncheon will follow at the church.

Bob Frandle, 83, Austin, Minnesota, entered his eternal home on Aug. 31, 2018, lifted by the love of family and friends who were with him in person or in spirit during the days of his final, brave battle.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Frandle, Austin; son, Troy Frandle, Farmington, Minnesota; grandchildren, Ryan Frandle (London Kinney), Savage, Minnesota, Amber (Mike) Olson, Noblesville, Indiana, and Jayson Frandle, Gladstone, Michigan; and great-grandchildren, Nevan Frandle, and Bryce, Marcus and Hayden Olson. He is also survived by siblings, Eileen Majerus, Tom (Rita) Frandle, and Jim (Doris) Frandle, all of Austin, and Richard Frandle, Viroqua, Wisconsin. He also leaves behind many extended family members who love and miss him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Irene (Muzyk) Frandle; and sisters, Janet Caron and Helen Roe.

Robert Frank Frandle was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota, on May 15, 1935. His family later moved to Austin, where Bob graduated from St. Augustine High School (now Pacelli).

Following graduation, Bob joined the U.S. Army and spent part of his enlistment stationed in Hawaii. While there, he sent letters back home telling about the beautiful beaches and pretty girls there, but it turned out that it was a Minnesota girl who captured his heart. Bob married Barb Wacholtz in 1959, and their son, Troy, was born the next year.

Bob was a hard worker, and he spent many years working at Hormel, as well as helping his father-in-law with his roofing business and rental properties.

Over the years, Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, growing vegetables, and being outdoors. In his later years, he especially loved going to rummage sales and finding special “treasures” for his loved ones, things he knew they collected or thought they’d enjoy. He made great horseradish and the best popcorn, and he shared both. He was a kind, friendly man with a big heart.

Bob had a great sense of humor, and he took great pride in his Norwegian heritage, two things which seemed to fit together well. Bob and his siblings spent the past several years passing on their lefse-making skills to the next generation during the annual Frandle Family Lutefisk and Lefse Extravaganza. Each year, Bob peeled up to 50 pounds of potatoes for the event. And — he actually liked lutefisk!

Most of all, Bob’s greatest joy was in being with family and friends. You could always count on Bob coming in with a smile and a joke, wearing his Uff Da or other favorite hat.

And, you could always count on a hug and a “love you” when you parted ways with him.

We are left with fond, sweet memories and his love that lives on in those who knew him.

A memorial Mass for Bob will be celebrated at noon on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.

Lorraine Adelaide (Holzer)
Schneberger

1922-2018

September 14, 1922 - September 1, 2018

Obituary for Lorraine Adelaide Schneberger

Lorraine Holzer Schneberger, age 95, of Austin, died September 1, 2018, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Winneshiek County, Iowa on September 14, 1922 to Martha Holien Holzer and William Holzer. She grew up in Ossian, Iowa, graduating from high school in 1939 at age 16. In 1942, Lorraine moved to Washington D.C. to become part of the war effort. She worked in various secretarial capacities between 1942 and 1945 at the newly constructed Pentagon.

Lorraine married William Henry Schneberger Jr on November 30, 1946 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Together, they had five children. She was employed at the Hormel Institute in Austin, where she worked as a secretary as well as in the labs, rat room, and ran the stock room. She retired at 65, but continued working at the Institute part time until the age of 79.

Lorraine loved going on trips, music, plays, art, and gambling. She was an avid reader, and her love of words was passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Lorraine was a devoted mother and grandmother, and much of her time was spent with her grandchildren. She attended countless school functions, and many weekend breakfasts were spent making skinny pancakes, which were her specialty. Often this was done while holding a baby in her arms.

Lorraine had a good sense of humor, to which we attribute her long life. Her wit was quick and could throw out a great one liner at a moment’s notice. Holding a cinnamon roll in her hand, she said “Is there anything better than a cinnamon roll?” paused, and said “two cinnamon rolls.”

Lorraine lived with her daughter, Lori and son-in-law, John for the last two years of her life. She quickly won the loyalty of the family dogs, and each one chose a specific job to do with her. She is survived by her children, Steven (Becky) Schneberger, Cloquet, Susan Sheridan, Northfield, Sharon “Sheri” (Steven) Runtsch, and Lori (John) McDermott; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Norma Jean Derr, Austin, and Audrey Mara, Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha Holzer; her husband, William Schneberger Jr.; and infant daughter, Angela Marie Schneberger.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father John Traufler officiating. Friends may call at Mayer Funeral home one hour before the service on Friday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
