Marjorie Emma Budreau 1917-2016
DEATH NOTICE:
Born: February 03, 1917
Died: February 24, 2016
Marjorie E. Budreau, 99
Marjorie E. Budreau, 99, of Hayfield, Minnesota, died Wednesday,
February 24, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus in
Rochester, Minnesota.
Marjorie was born February 3, 1917, in Mindoro, Wisconsin, to Harvey and Irene (Herrmann) Schlifer. She was raised on a small farm near Mindoro. She graduated from Mindoro High School in 1934. She received her nursing degree from Wisconsin State College in 1936.
Marjorie married James E. Mealy in September of 1936 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. They later moved to French Island, Wisconsin, in 1941 where they lived until moving to Austin, Minnesota, in 1948. In Austin, Marjorie worked as nurse at St. Olaf Hospital until 1956 when she began working for Dr. Herman Miller. James died in 1963. In 1970, Marjorie went to work for the Golden Valley Clinic in Golden Valley, Minnesota. She married Dale Budreau on June 27, 1974, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
In retirement, Marjorie and Dale traveled the United States extensively, finding residence in Las Vegas, Nevada, Morro Bay, California, and eventually settling down in northern Minnesota. In 1994, to be closer to family, they relocated to Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.
Marjorie was a sharp-witted, active woman who enjoyed life. She liked cross-stitch, knitting, hunting, fishing, was an avid sports fan, and spending time with family. One of her most favorite pass times was playing cards with friends and family. She could be in the middle of watching a Twins baseball game, but if the word "cards" was mentioned, she'd be the first one to the table. She loved cards, but it was more about the camaraderie than it was about the competition. She loved to send care packages of handmade dish towels and dishcloths to all of her grandchildren.
Recently, she had said that in her entire 99 years her only regret was not learning how to swim.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; first husband James
Mealy in 1963; daughter Judy Seys; brother Bernhardt Schlifer; infant
brother Charles Schlifer; second husband Dale Budreau in 2011; and
step-son Tom Budreau.

Minnesota, Lois (Chuck) Tangen, Motley, Minnesota, and Denny Mealy,
Hayfield, Minnesota; son-in-law Ed Seys, Austin, Minnesota; 12
grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;
sister Sandra Skoy, Mindoro, Wisconsin; step-children, Mary Mueller,
Wausau, Wisconsin, and Jerry Budreau, Wausau, Wisconsin;
