Clifford Glen Bailey 1938-2016
Funeral notice: Clifford G. Bailey, 77
Clifford G. Bailey, 77, of Lansing, Minnesota, passed away January 7,
2016, surrounded by family.
Service: Remembrance memorial gathering will be from 2 to 4 p.m.
Sunday, January 17, 2016, at St. Marks Living, 400 15th Ave. SW, Austin,
Minnesota.
A full obituary will follow.
Austin Daily Herald, 8 JAN 2016
Clifford Glen Bailey, 77
On January 7, 2016, at 11 a.m., Cliff went to sleep at Mayo Clinic
Hospital in Austin surrounded by family and woke up in heaven.
Cliff was born on February 26, 1938, in Austin, Minnesota, grew up in the
Ramsey/Todd Park area, and was a 1956 graduate of Austin High School.
Many friends will remember Cliff from his days with the Eagles and Moose
softball teams and the mighty Anderson Radiator broomball team. Cliff was
an avid hunter and fisherman. He worked his way up to become manager/owner
of Cliff's Western gas station before employment at Hormels. As a proud
P-9 member, he strongly supported his rank and file colleagues. Above all,
Cliff always worked hard to support his family. He retired in 2000 to
enjoy traveling and eventually became expert at mowing golf course roughs.
Cliff would say his greatest joys were his 1958 marriage to Patricia
Jean Luthe -- the love of his life since fourth grade -- and the four kids
they raised together: Randy (Ann) Bailey of Apple Valley, Susan (David)
Marek of Chaska, Sara (Patrick Kruse) Miller of Albert Lea, and William
Bailey of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Mabel Bailey;
brothers: Arnold and Everett; and sister Iris.
He is survived by siblings: Rita, Karen, and Willis; wonderful wife
Patty; his four kids; grandkids: Sophie, Maxwell, Zoe, and Gracie; and
great-grandchild Charlotte.
Cliff was a good man. His last generous act was to donate his body to
the Mayo Medical Research program; his spirit is either out West searching
for buried treasure, tracking a fox through a snowy field, or trying to
confirm his "moon landings were faked!" theory.
An informal remembrance and memorial gathering will be hosted by his
family on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Marks Living,
400 15th Ave. SW in Austin.

Vivia (Galt) Anderson 1881-1905
VIVIA GALT ANDERSON
It is with much regret that we record the death of Mrs. Eugene Anderson
which occurred at her home on Ash street Friday evening shortly after seven
o'clock.
Mrs. Anderson had been in failing health for some time. Overwork and
anxiety at the time of her sister Lulu's sickness and death a year ago
last January, was the beginning of the breaking of her health which
terminated in quick consumption. Last January she went to Montana but
her health did not improve and she came back in about two months weaker
than when she left.
She however was cheerful and courageous and her plans and determination
were all for life. A wonderful will kept her up and she was confined to
her house but two days and to her bed but for a short time. Friday
afternoon at 2 o'clock she became unconscious and remained so until her
death in the evening.
She was married to Mr. Eugene Anderson five years ago last November
and they have lived in Austin ever since with the exception of a few
months spent on a farm in Stearns county. Though she had no children
of her own, after her sister's death she took her little boy who received
in his new home all the love and care that could be bestowed.
The heartfelt sympathy of a large number of friends goes out to Mr.
Anderson who mourns the death of a loved and loving wife, and to the
father, mother and friends who will miss the light of this cheerful
life, so early called home.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 o'clock from the home and the
body laid to rest in Woodbury cemetery beside that of her mother and sister.

Nels S. Green died 1902
Thursday morning Nels Green an old resident of this place was shot by
the station agent at Elkton. The family and a physician were immediately
called and they started to take him to Rochester, before they reached his
home he died. Mr. Green leaves a wife, four sons and one daughter.
Mr. Green has lived in Grand Meadow and vicinity for many years. He was
an honest upright man, kind in his family, especially interested in the
welfare of his children. Three of his sons were just entering manhood and
they were constant companions of their father. The community were shocked
and saddened by this fearful tragedy. The funeral services were held
Saturday at ten o'clock at the M. E. church conducted by the Masonic
lodge of which he was a member.
The flag which he served as a faithful soldier was draped on the casket.
Among many beautiful floral offerings was a wreath from the G. A. R. and
the Masonic Emblems in flowers which were particularly beautiful. Rev.
Routzahn preached the funeral sermon. The church was crowded while many
stood in the yard. The remains were laid at rest in the village cemetery.
