Obituary
Velma Isabel Moe, loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, went to
be with God on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Funeral services will be 11:00
A.M. Saturday February 2, 2013 at the LeRoy Lutheran Church with Rev.

Malcomson. She was raised on a farm adjacent to Hayden's Prairie. She
attended school in Chester and was active in the 4-H Club. Velma graduated
from Cresco High School and attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette where
she earned a teaching certificate. She taught in a rural one-room school
in the Oakdale and Chester school district for four years. When World War II
started, Velma moved to California with two of her friends and worked as a
secretary and clerk in Long Beach, California.
Velma married Arnet Moe on November 6, 1945 in LeRoy where they then made their home. They had four sons, Dennis, Mickey, Francis, and John. Velma was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. A bear discovered that her wing-vent window was not latched and pushed it open with its nose. Looking for a snack, the bear instead got a whack when Velma discovered where and how close the bear's nose was. The family quickly moved on, but the kids were excited because they saw Mom slap a bear.
While most of her traveling was in the United States, she and her
son, John, traveled to Europe in 1979 to visit her first grandson. She
liked to take photographs and collect them. Her home is full of pictures
