Glenn Burnard Johnson 1939-2014
October 9, 1939 -- October 23, 2014 (age 75)
Obituary--
Memorial services for Glenn Johnson will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday,
October 27, 2014 at the LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minnesota with
Pastor Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will take place in the church
cemetery. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the
church on Monday. Hindt Funeral Home of Le Roy, Minnesota is in charge
of arrangements.
Glenn Johnson, age 75, of LeRoy, Minnesota passed away Thursday, October
23, 2014 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Glenn Burnard Johnson was born October 9, 1939 in Stewartville, Minnesota,
to Kenneth and Leila (Lecy) Johnson. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church.
The family moved to LeRoy in 1940. Glenn was confirmed in 1954. He attended
LeRoy High School and graduated in 1957. After high school, Glenn worked
with his father at Johnson Chevrolet. He joined the United States Army
and served in Germany, where he met Elvis Presley. After returning from
the army, Glenn joined his father in business again.
On February 8, 1964, he was united in marriage to Deloryce Hanson at
the LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minnesota. Glenn purchased Johnson
Chevrolet from his father, and in the fall of 1985 he sold the business
to the LeRoy Area Development Corporation. Glenn also worked for Mayo
Clinic, retiring due to health, and he drove bus for many years for the
LeRoy Ostrander School District (He just loved the kids). He was a member
of the Commercial Club and Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing,
camping, and going to Minnesota Twins baseball and Gopher football games.
Glenn loved taking photos, gardening, and riding his golf cart.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deloryce of LeRoy; sons,
Allan (Heather) Johnson of Carver, Minnesota and Jay (Lana) Johnson of
Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Lauren and Rhett of Carver,
Minnesota, and Marissa, Madison, and Brenton of Rochester, Minnesota; two
sisters, Donna Lewis of Hayfield, Minnesota and Elaine Fowler of
Bloomington, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Leila, brother,
David Allen, and sister, Dorothy.

Brian Neil Helland 1950-2015

Brian N. Helland, 65 of Austin, Minnesota, died at his home on
Wednesday, December 16, 2015.
Brian was born on September 30, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Gordon
and Darlene (Johnson) Helland. After high school, he moved to Maryland in
1970 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in Patuxent
River, Maryland. During his service he was an air crewman assigned to
Patrol Squadron 30 of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet.
In 1973, Brian married Cleo McDonell; they were married for 22 years.
In 1976, he started his career as an electrical engineer and was a
contractor for NASA, Goodard Space Center, Green Belt, Maryland. After
retiring, he returned to live in Austin in 2004.
Brian was a member of the Austin Country Club and Pheasants Forever. He
enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to mow his lawn as it was his escape from
the everyday life. He liked to sit and look at his flag and the bridge
over the back creek. He also liked to go fishing with his grandkids.
However, golf was his true passion.
He was preceded in death by his father Gordon Helland and his brother
Bruce Helland.
Brian is survived by his sons: David (Beth) Helland, Rochester, Minnesota,
Daniel Helland, Bryans Road, MD, and Benjamin (Dawn) Helland, Waldorf,
Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Mason Helland, Brody Helland, Brianna
Helland, Alyssa Rabasco, Devon Helland, Jayla Helland and Zoey Helland;
his mother: Darlene Helland, Austin, Minnesota; sisters: Barbara (Jerry)
Neubauer, Stewartville, Minnesota and Beth Wood, Rochester, Minnesota;
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 21st at
Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Reverend Michael Olmsted officiating.
Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan
Mortuary on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and on Monday for one hour prior
to the service.
Casket bearers will be David Helland, Daniel Helland, Ben Helland,
Tim Duren, Wade Neubauer, Tom Wood and Brad King.
Memorials are preferred.

Marcia J. (Tangen) Myli 1951-2015
June 15, 1951 -- March 20, 2015 (age 63)
Obituary--
Marcia J. Myli, age 63, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away Friday March 20, 2015 at Regional Health Services of Howard County.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 25,
2015 at First Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa. Burial will take place in
LeRoy Lutheran Cemetery in LeRoy, Minnesota. Visitation will be held 4:00
to 7:00 pm Tuesday March 24, 2015 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, 404
North Elm Street, Cresco, Iowa. Visitation will continue one hour prior
to the service at the church.
Marcia Jean Tangen was born in Rochester, Minnesota, daughter of Gordon
and Thelma (Nordby) Tangen. During her junior year prom, Marcia met her
future husband Robert Myli. They were married on December 16, 1973 in
Decorah Iowa. Marcia worked in the nursing field starting out in Winona,
Minnesota, and Decorah, Iowa. In 1978 she was hired as an RN for Cresco
Regional Health Services and retired in 2008.
In addition to her work, Marcia was a volunteer for the Regional Health Services of Howard County Auxiliary and a CPR instructor for many years. Marcia’s compassion for others extended beyond her nursing career. She was active in the community, serving in various church organizations including church council secretary, substitute Sunday school teacher, youth mentor and Circle Chairman. She was also involved in the Cresco Clown Club. Here she brought joy to people as “Twinkie” the clown.
Marcia was an avid reader and always had a book handy for her husband Bob’s detours in search of antique tractors. She also loved finding new recipes and trying them out for her family. Marcia was very proud of her children and grandchildren, often sharing their many accomplishments.
Surviving Marcia is her husband Robert of Cresco, children Jason (Kristin)
of Winterset, Iowa, Danette "Dani" (Brian) Hunsberger of Hudson, Wisconsin,
Kristi (fiancé Jamie) Myli of Cresco, and Rachel Myli of Mason City, Iowa,
grandchildren Austin and Lauren Myli and Bryce and Brianna Hunsberger, her
mother Thelma Tangen of LeRoy, Minnesota, sister Mary (Pete) Slavin of Rochester,
Minnesota, brother Jim (Bev) Tangen of Claremont, Minnesota and
brother-in-law Rick Miller of LeRoy, Minnesota.
Preceding her in death is her father Gordon and sister Janice Miller.

Michael T. "Mike" Rath 1922-2015

Funeral services for Michael "Mike" Rath will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday,
March 24, 2015 at St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow, Minnesota
with Father Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will take place in the
St. Finbarr Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:30-7:00 P.M. with
the rosary being recited at 4:30 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Hindt
Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Michael "Mike" Rath, age 93, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota passed away
Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center in Grand
Meadow, Minnesota.
Michael Tony Rath was born January 24, 1922 to Tony and Suzanna (Stein)
Rath in Denison, Iowa. He received his grade school education in several
country schools throughout southern Iowa. As a teenager, Mike moved with
his family to a farm near Rembrandt, Iowa. Later on the family moved to the
Storm Lake, Iowa, area. Mike worked in the shipyard in Washington State before
entering the navy during World War II. During the war, Mike was stationed in
Japan. In 1952, Mike was united in marriage to Mary Arnts in Schaller, Iowa.
Together they moved to Grand Meadow in 1956 where they raised their five
children. Mike was a farmer, mechanic, and construction worker and enjoyed
tinkering around in his shop. When Mike wasn’t working, he liked to repair
old tractors, work in his big garden, and grow fruit trees. For the past
19 years, Mike and Mary have wintered in Weslaco, Texas, where Mike enjoyed
playing pool. Mike was a longtime member of the St. Finbarr Catholic Church
and was also a member of the Root River Antique Historical PowerAssociation and the US LST National Association.
Mike is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary; children, Carol (Mike)
Fritz of Rochester, Minnesota, Paul (Barb) Rath of Chatfield, Minnesota,
Bob (Barb) Rath of Grand Meadown, Minnesota, Lori (Tim) Ryan of Rochester,
Minnesota, and Joe Rath of Rochester, Minnesota; five grandchildren,
Aaron Rath, Libby Rapos, Renae Peters, Tony Rath, and Korey Rath; four
step grandchildren, Zac, Chase, Candice, and Brent Quandt; four
great-grandchildren, Kadin Tracy, Xander Rapos, Mason Rapos, and
Cindy Peters; brothers, Robert Rath of Stewartville, Minnesota,
Bernard Rath of Racine, Minnesota, Raymond Rath of Storm Lake,
Iowa, Philip Rath of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Elmer (Donna) Rath of
Cedar Park, Texas; and sister, Lucille Fitzsenry of Storm Lake, Iowa.

Donna Mae (Fossum) Hanks 1926-2014

A celebration of life for Donna M. Hanks will be held 2:00-5:00
P.M. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota.
Burial will take place in the Bethlehem Cemetery-Beaver Twp. Fillmore
County at a later date.
Donna M. Hanks, age 87, of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, March 4,
2014 at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minnesota.
Donna Mae Fossum was born September 2, 1926 in Waukon, Iowa to Otto and
Maude (Outram) Fossum. She graduated from Waukon High School and continued
her education at Milwaukee Downer College for Women. Donna worked in Howard
County, Iowa, as a home economist. On July 13, 1952, Donna was united in
marriage to Fred Hanks in Waukon, Iowa. To this union, three sons were
born: Darrell, Robin, and Neil. Helping on the family farm and raising
her three sons were Donna's priorities in life. She was involved in
judging 4-H projects at the county fair for many years and enjoyed
gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed bird watching, knitting and
crocheting and was a member of the Garden and History Club. Donna had
a large collection of owl and Santa figurines, and was an avid reader
her whole life.
She is survived by her husband Fred of LeRoy, Minnesota; children,
Darrell (Darla) Hanks of Forrest City, Iowa, Robin Hanks of LeRoy, Minnesota,
and Neil (Donna J.) Hanks of LeRoy, Minnesota; three grandsons, Paul (Andrea Gaio)
Hanks, John Hanks, and Nick (Emily) Hanks; two step grandsons, Matt (Jesse)
Tindall and Marty (Allison) Tindall; three great-grandchildren, Breckan,
Natalie, and Sydney Hanks; two step great-grandchildren, Gavin and Gaige
Tindall; sisters and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Maude, and
brother, H.O. "Bud" Fossum.

Sandy Lastine, age 61, of Minneapolis and formerly of Le Roy, Minnesota,
died Thursday February 19, 2015 at Providence Place in Minneapolis.
Sandra Kay Lastine was born February 6, 1954 in Austin, Minnesota to Joy
and Veronica (Bissen) Lastine. She attended and graduated from Le Roy
Ostrander High School in 1972 and worked for Hanson Tire in Le Roy and
L.P.C. in Le Roy . She later moved to Minneapolis where she resided until
the time of her death. Sandy enjoyed playing cards and listening to
music and was a member of the Le Roy Saddle Club.
She is survived by her brother Dennis Lastine of Eagen, Minnesota, and
her sister Sharon (Ronald) Rich of Le Roy, Minnesota; three nephews; three
nieces and her former sister-in-law and friend Anna Lastine of Eagen

Derek Robert Soltau 1992-2015
January 6, 1992 -- February 11, 2015 (age 23)
Obituary--
Derek Robert Soltau, 23, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015,
from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.
Derek was born January 6, 1992, at Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester,
Minnesota to Leonard and Brenda (Wheeler) Soltau. Derek was a 2010 graduate
of LeRoy-Ostrander High School where he enjoyed being an active member of
the local National FFA Organization and participating in trap-shooting
events and raising pheasants for his S.A.E. project. He participated in
both the Washington D.C. and Overseas trip and was involved in the Explorer
Program for the LeRoy Ambulance Service. He was confirmed at First
Presbyterian Church of LeRoy, Minnesota and was a current member.
Following graduation, Derek attended Rochester Community Technical
College in Rochester, Minnesota. In May 2014, he graduated from the
Building Utilities Mechanic Program (BUM) and accepted a job at Mayo
Clinic, Rochester as an incinerator operator in the Waste Management
Facility. He was a hard-worker and enjoyed his job.
Derek took pleasure in spending time outdoors through hobbies that
included hunting, fishing, and camping. He always looked forward to the
annual guys' fishing trip at Lake Osakis. A couple of his favorite
interests were restoring and repairing automobiles and refurbishing
rental houses. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family
members and lending a hand to anyone in need.
Derek was kind-hearted and reliable. He had a passion for learning and
enjoyed watching the History Channel. His family fondly remembers his time
spent reading and absorbing new information. He will be remembered for his
caring, generous nature and devotion to family.
Derek is survived by his parents, Leonard and Brenda (Wheeler) Soltau;
siblings Kyle and Kayla (along with Cordell Stockdale); paternal grandparents,
Robert and Janice Soltau; and maternal grandparents, Harlo and Marilyn
Wheeler. Surviving aunts and uncles include Duane and Nicole (Bailey)
Wheeler, Joe and Diane (Wheeler) Lunning all of LeRoy, and Mark and
Jennifer (Babb) King of Zumbrota. Surviving cousins include Amy, Angela,
Craig, and Emily Wheeler; Shelby and Ethan Lunning; and Joshua, Nathan,
and Thomas King.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Juanita (Voigt) Soltau,
uncle Jeffrey Babb, and cousin Josh Wheeler.

Oliver Lee Hovda 1923-2015

Funeral services for Oliver Hovda will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday,
February 12, 2015 at Bear Creek Lutheran Church in Frankford Township,
Minnesota with Pastor Larry Iverson officiating. Burial will take place
in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 P.M. Wednesday,
February 11, 2015 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow, Minnesota and
one hour prior to the service at the church.
Oliver Hovda, age 91, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota passed away peacefully
on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Spring Valley Care Center after a
four-year illness.
Oliver Lee Hovda was born on May 29, 1923 in Grand Meadow, Minnesota
to Thaulow and Amalia (Bengtson) Hovda. Oliver attended country school
through 8th grade and began farming. He was baptized and confirmed at the
Bear Creek Lutheran Church, where he was a lifetime member. He enjoyed
singing in the church choir and being part of the Men's Club. Oliver was
also part of the 40 Miler's Chorus for several years. Oliver farmed his
entire life until retiring in 1988. He had many hobbies: planting trees,
ginseng, and golden seal. Oliver was especially proud of his collection
of agates and many fossils, usually found during his many walks around
the countryside. For many years, he also enjoyed having coffee and
conversation at the "Pump" Truck Stop and later at the Food Court at
Apache Mall, where he made many friends.
Oliver is survived by his daughter, Connie (Terry) Johnson of Racine,
Minnesota; three grandchildren, Andrew (Elin) Johnson of Grand Meadow,
Minnesota, Mary (Richard) Moulding of Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, and Isaac (Megan)
Johnson of Stewartville, Minnesota; five great-grandchildren, Knut and Nils
Johnson, Hazel and Harriet Moulding, and Everett Oliver; two sisters,
Frieda (Harold) Jensen of Grand Meadow, Minnesota and Amalia "Molly"
(Howard) Paschke of Blue Earth, Minnesota; and two brothers, Hjalmer
(Gretchen) of Progreso, Texas, and Thaulow "Sky" (Darlene) Hovda of
Wabasha, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaulow and Amalia; wife,
Carol in 2008; daughter, Nancy Carol in 1972; sisters, Margaret Close
and Betsy Anderson; and brother, Herman Hovda.

Darryl Hagen, age 70, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota passed away Thursday,
January 1, 2015 at Grand Meadow Health Care in Grand Meadow, Minnesota.
Darryl Jon Hagen was born July 13, 1944 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to
Johnnie Hagen and Eldora "Sedell" Severson . After graduating from Grand
Meadow High School in 1962, he enlisted and served in the United States
Navy in 1964. He was very proud to serve his country for four years. On
June 2, 1973, Darryl was united in marriage to Marjean Iverson at Bear
Creek Lutheran Church. He worked for Home Telephone Company, Iverson
Sanitation and for IBM for 20 years.
After his retirement from IBM he worked part time as a bartender
for Skjenke Bom Lounge in Grand Meadow. Darryl was a volunteer fireman
and was an active member of the Grand Meadow Legion and a member of the
Bear Creek Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, bird watching
and loved all sports he also enjoyed spending time with his family
especially his grandkids.
Darryl is survived by his wife, Marjean Hagen of Grand Meadow, Minnesota;
children, Kari (Warren) Miner and Renae Myhre both of Grand Meadow, three
grandchildren; Zach, Emma and Logan, brother, Doug (Cindy) Ofstedal of
Harmony, Minnesota, Sister-in-law Donna (Connie) Hoffman of Byron,
Minnesota and brother-in-law Steve (Elaine) Iverson of Grand Meadow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather Elmer
Ofstedal and brother Larry "Red" Hagen.

Robert Allan "Bob" Oehlke 1967-2014

Funeral Services for Robert A. "Bob" Oehlke will be held at 11:00 A.M.
Thursday April 10, 2014 at St John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville with
the Rev. Lyle Fritsch officiating. Burial will take place at the Grand
Meadow Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-8 P.M. on Wednesday
April 9, 2014 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow and will continue
for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bob Oehlke, age 47, of Grand Meadow died Saturday April 5, 2014 at St.
Marys Hospital in Rochester following a two-week battle with cancer.
Robert Allan Oehlke was born April 4, 1967 to Allan and Audrey (Jahns)
Oehlke in Rochester, Minnesota. He attended and graduated from Grand Meadow High
School in 1985 and continued his education at the University of Wisconsin
River Falls where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
Engineering. He was united in marriage to Lori Hanson at St. Johns
Lutheran Church in Stewartville on December 7, 1996. Bob crop farmed in
the Grand Meadow and surrounding area with his brothers Glenn and Jon.
He was a life long member of St John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville and
enjoyed spending time with his boys taking them out west snowmobiling.
He is survived by his wife Lori and sons Brad Hanson and Michael and
Kyle Oehlke all of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, his parents; Audrey and Allan Oehlke
and his siblings Lori (Curt) Petzel, Kathy (Mark) Carman, Glenn (Becky)
Oehlke and Jon (Wendi) Oehlke all of Grand Meadow. He was preceded in
death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Daniel Joseph Patten 1982-2014

Daniel J. Patten, age 32, of Rochester died Tuesday December 16, 2014
at his home.
He was born November 11, 1982 in Rochester, Minnesota to David and
Judith Patten. Daniel was a John Marshall graduate and went on to proudly
serve his country in the Army National Guard. He was stationed in Kosovo.
Daniel was a longtime employee of McNeilius where he worked as a welder.
Daniel is survived by his parents Judith Patten of Dexter, Minnesota,
and David Patten of Rochester, Minnesota, a half brother Kevin (Melanie)
DeVore and niece Marlie and a sister Kelly (Scott) Dreyer and nieces Kinsey
and Kambryn and nephews Brevan and Ryland and his paternal grandmother
Vivian Rodenz of Mabel, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his
maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.

December 16, 2014 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minnesota
with Father Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will take place in
St. Patricks Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will he held 4:30-6:30 P.M.
with a 4:30 P.M. rosary Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Hindt Funeral
Home in LeRoy, Minnesota, and the visitation will continue an hour before
the service at the church.
Barbara Bartel, age 93, of LeRoy, Minnesota passed to her heavenly home
on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea,
Minnesota.
Barbara Rosemarie Hulten was born September 29, 1921 in Rockford, IL,
the beloved daughter of Ernest and Anna (Englund) Hulten. She was a high
school graduate. On June 9, 1945, Barb was united in marriage to Jim Bartel
in Rockford, IL. Barb, Jim, Kathi, and Danny moved to LeRoy, Minnesota in
1963 where Barb lived until July 2013 when she moved to Good Samaritan in
Albert Lea, Minnesota. Barb worked at Martz Furniture for several years,
but her primary calling was as a devoted daughter, wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She was always willing
to help someone: taking folks to appointments, shopping, church, and most
anything that was asked of her. Her mother, Anna, made her home in Barb's
home in LeRoy for 20 years, and they were an amazing pair.
Barb leaves, to cherish her memory, her daughter, Kathi (Dave) Hanson of
Albert Lea, Minnesota; son, Danny (Rhonda Madetske) Bartel of LeRoy,
Minnesota; grandchildren, Greg (Chelsea) Hanson of Albert Lea, Minnesota,
Ryan (Jill) Hanson of Byron, Minnesota, Nikki Bartel of Glenville,
Minnesota, and Dylan (Sarah Segura) Bartel of Glenville, Minnesota;
great-grandchildren, Levi, Riley, Brooke, Trent, Tricia, Isabel, and
Indiana; sister, Phyllis Doherty of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law,
Marlene (Bob) Mareth of Monett, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and devoted
special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Anna, beloved
husband, Jim, and granddaughter, Stacey Hanson.

Michele "Shelly" Reichstadt-McConnell, age 39, of Spring Valley,
Minnesota passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at her home surrounded
by her family after an 8 year journey with sarcoma.
Shelly was a twin born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Wesley and Kathy
(Ruud) Reichstadt. Shelly married the love of her life, Scott McConnell
and together they operated their 50 year family business, McConnell Electric
in Spring Valley, Minnesota. She also worked for the Fillmore Place in
Preston, Minnesota and IBM in Rochester, Minnesota. Shelly had a love
of being outdoors, camping and fishing with friends and family. She
shared her love by cooking and baking, especially for holidays and
special occasions. Shelly has left family and friends with so many
precious memories that will always be cherished. Her kind, generous
heart and soul will continue to hold her friends and family tight.
Shelly is survived by her husband, Scott McConnell of Spring Valley,
Minnesota; step daughters, Shinead and Keisha; two grandsons; dog, Sparky;
mother, Kathy (Billy) Foster of Spring Valley, Minnesota; twin sister,
Missy (Scott) Sweeney of Spring Valley, Minnesota; brothers, Rodney

Leonard LeRoy Shulze 1928-2014

Funeral Services for Leonard L. Shulze will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday,
October 11, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elkton, Minnesota with

Leonard Shulze, age 86, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota left us knowing he
was going to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October
7, 2014 at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center in Grand Meadow, Minnesota.
Leonard LeRoy Shulze was born in Rolla, North Dakota on May 2, 1928 to
Leon and Pearl Shulze. He was married to Bonnie Lou Groth for 38 years,
and he later married Mary Petrysyn-Johnson. Leonard served in World War II
as a seaman first class in the United States Navy, serving two and a half
years, at the age of 15. He graduated from the North Dakota School of Science.
Leonard worked as a carpenter for 40 years. Leonard devoted his life in
service to his Lord. He was active in his church, singing in the choir,
teaching Sunday school, and leading the Sunday service in the pastor's
absence. He loved his family and all of nature. He hunted, fished,
gardened, and loved to go camping. His favorite saying was, "get after it."
Leonard is survived by his three sons: David (MarDelle) Shulze of Lake
City, Minnesota, Steven (Marianne) Shulze of Dexter, Minnesota, and Terry
(Denise) Shulze of Lake City, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren;
21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Pearl and sister,
Lorraine Tingelstad.

Ethel "Elaine" Stockdale, 97 of Ostrander, Minnesota died Friday October
3, 2014 at Ostrander Care and Rehab in Ostrander, where she had resided for
two years.
Ethel "Elaine" Stockdale was born September 19, 1917 in Spring Valley,
Minnesota to Fred & Ethel (Hultquist) Loucks. She graduated from Spring
Valley High School in 1936. On September 1, 1937 Elaine married Dale
Stockdale at her parents' home in Spring Valley. She loved making quilts,
which she made for every family member, sewing, gardening, canning and
traveling. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies aid circle,
Do-day quilting, BI Club, and Grange and Golden Circle Senior Citizens.
Elaine is survived by her four children: Janelle (Wayne) Thorson of
Spring Valley, Minnesota, Kenneth (Diane) Stockdale of Grand Meadow,
Minnesota, Karen (Donald) Tapp of Waverly, NE, and Juliene (David) Brady
of Stewartville Minnesota; 18 grandchildren: Pamela Thorson (Mark) Sinning,

James Floyd Free 1940-2014

Funeral services for James Free will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, April
11, 2014 at LeRoy Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minnesota with Pastor Herman Bakker
and Pastor Robert Kaske officiating. Burial will take place at the LeRoy
Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, April 10, 2014,
at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota and will continue one hour prior to
the service at church.
James Floyd Free, 73, of Rochester was called to his eternal home
into the presence of his Lord and Savior, on April 6, 2014.
James was born on June 26, 1940, in Tupelo, Arkansas. He grew up and
attended school in Parkin, Arkansas. He married Dorothy Grogan in 1960
and they had one son and two daughters. They later divorced and James
moved to Rochester, Minnesota. There he married June Ruth Feustel on August 7,
1993. James joined his son in a Commercial and Residential Painting
business and they travelled across the United States.
After the sudden death of his son, his wife, June, became his painting
partner. They loved working together and had a great clientele in the city
of Rochester and surrounding areas. James was a man of great faith in God.
He loved spending time with his children and their families. He had a zest
for life and was full of laughter. He enjoyed boating, skiing, and was
crazy about airplanes. James was a loving and loyal husband and father. He
was a living example of his faith, of which his family greatly respected.
James is survived by his wife, June of Rochester, Minnesota; children, Tena
(Louis) Jurado of Rochester, Minnesota and LaShonna (Robert) Fuller of
San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and siblings,
Whit (Loretta) Free of Bethany, Louisiana, Donald (Gayle) Free of Stonewall,
Louisiana, George (Shirley) Free of Louisiana, Lula Floyd of Tennessee, and
Randy Free of Bethany, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Terry Free, and two
great-granddaughters, Gabrielle Free and Emma Davis.

Glen Eli Rice 1923-2014
September 11, 1923 -- July 17, 2014 (age 90)
Obituary--
Funeral services for Glen E. Rice will be held on Tuesday July,
22nd at the First Baptist Church in Spring Valley (701 Kasten Dr.) with the
Rev. Joe Haynes officiating. Burial will be at the Le Roy Cemetery.
Visitation will be held before the time of service at the church.
Glen E. Rice, age 90, formerly of Le Roy died Thursday July 17, 2014 at
the Ostrander Care and Rehab where he had resided for about three years.
Glen Eli Rice was born September 11, 1923 in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Raymond
and Vida (Thompson) Rice. He was united in marriage to Ellen June Konrahdi
on March 6, 1943 in Dakota City, Nebraska, and entered military service on
March 11, 1943. Glen served in the United States Army during World War II;
he was a Private First Class serving in the 114th Engineer Combat Battalion.
He received a Good Conduct Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one
star, he was discharged on December 12, 1945. Glen was a farmer and also
worked for ABS (American Breeding Service) for 15 years. He also worked as
a Milk Hauler and had many other jobs. He loved playing marbles with
anyone and enjoyed telling about his time in the service. He was a
lifetime member of the Adams American Legion.
He is survived by his sons; Steve (Cindy) Rice of Souix Rapids, Iowa,
Dennis (Deborah) Rice of Leroy, Minnesota, Kenneth (Wendy) Rice of Taopi,
Minnesota, Jason (Elizabeth) Rice of Ostrander, Minnesota; also by numerous
grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, Virgil (Betty) Rice
of Souix City, Iowa, Ellen Henderson of Cherokee, Iowa, and Veda Santos of
Fairfield, California.
Glen is preceded in death by his parents; Raymond & Vida (Thompson)
Rice; his children,Glen "Sonny" Jr., Jimmy, and Timmy Rice; his siblings,

Barbara Jean (Arens) Harmon 1941-2015
Barbara Jean Harmon, 74, of Oakdale, Minnesota, passed away Thursday,
December 3, 2015, after a short battle with cancer.
Barbara was born to Lawrence Sr. and Lorraine Arens of Austin on
June 2, 1941. She grew up in Austin where she attended Pacelli High
School. On August 16, 1958, she married Mitchell (Mick) Nemitz of Austin.
They had two daughters: Gina and Heidi. After they married they moved to
the cities. They were married for 11 years and later divorced. She married
James Harmon in April, 1979. They resided in Lake Elmo until later building
a beautiful home in Oakdale.
Barbara was a 3M retiree. She currently worked at Johnson Williams
Funeral Car Services for the past 10 years. She had many friends from
this work family. They all miss hearing her soothing, gentle, calming
voice when answering the phone for people who have lost their loved ones.
She will be remembered most for her kindness. She was the most loving and
giving woman on earth. Her family meant the world to her. She loved being
with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a Miata Club Member, flower
gardener, loyal Vikings fan, and avid Bingo player. She enjoyed collecting
rocks for her landscaping. She decorated with chickens and roosters.
She lived life to its fullest. She loved to travel. She won a trip to
Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, enjoyed Vegas and California trips. Her favorite
was Jamaica. She was hoping to make it there again. She once won a van
from KDWB radio station in the 70's and traded it in for a Chevette instead.
She is survived by her children: Gina (Rodney) Orth of Byron, and
Heidi Marty of Oakdale; two brothers: Larry (Linda) Arens of Austin,
and Greg Arens of Austin; also six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren
(with two more on the way) and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mick and Jim; niece Kelly
Arens; former sister-in-law Sinthia; and her beloved dogs Bailey and
Lamby Pie.
Her body was cremated as per her wishes. Private services will be held
at a later date in Austin.

Paul Martin Eastwold 1938-2014

Obituary--
Funeral services for Paul Martin Eastwold will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday
January 29, 2014 at the Le Roy Lutheran Church with the Rev Herman Bakker
officiating. Burial will take place at the Bethlehem Cemetery, Beaver
Township. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Tuesday January 28, 2014
at the Hindt Funeral Home in Le Roy and will continue for one hour prior
to the service at the church.
Paul Martin Eastwold, 75, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 at
the Ostrander Care and Rehab.
Paul was born to Lloyd and Delia (Lawson) Eastwold on May 1, 1938. He
graduated from LeRoy-Ostrander High School in 1956 and served in the Army,
stationed in Seoul, South Korea from 1956-58 during the Korean War. Paul
married Jacqueline Richardson on November 10, 1962 in Spring Valley.
For over 50 years, Paul & Jacque farmed near Chester, Iowa. They
celebrated their 51st anniversary and were blessed with five children.
He had one special dance partner, Jacque, but taught his daughters
and made room for others on his dance card. He spent many winters
restoring antique Case tractors, cars, and trucks with his life-long
friend Robert Bly. Community was another priority in Paul's life. He
served on the Beaver Township Board, LeRoy Rural Fire Board, and
Bethlehem Cemetery Board, and was an active member of the LeRoy
Lutheran Church.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jacque; daughters Micki (Brian)
Stark, Mankato, Minnesota, Lynnette (Paul) Miller, Racine, Minnesota,
Angie (Justin) Kennedy, Leroy, Minnesota, Jen (Jun) Eastwold-Cho,
Hopkins, Minnesota; grandchildren Teresa (Jon) Hulst, Kiel Davis, Nick
Stark, Ryan Stark, Grant Kennedy, Grace Kennedy, Greg Kennedy; and three
great-grandchildren. His siblings Alice (Don) Dahl, Florence Lindstrom,
Eric (Kristin) Eastwold, Mary (Murray) Hanson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Gregory.

Kerry Dean Derry 1949-2014
September 10, 1949 -- February 7, 2014 (age 64)
Obituary--
Kerry Derry, age 64, formerly of Le Roy, Minnesota died Friday February
7, 2014 at the Maple Crest Care Center in Fayette, Iowa.
Kerry Dean Derry was born September 10, 1949 in Jefferson, Iowa, to
Darrell and Doris (Lewis) Derry. His childhood was spent on the farm
around Jefferson, Iowa and Manson, Iowa until the family moved to
Le Roy, Minnesota. He attended grade school in Pomaroy and Dayton, Iowa, and
graduated from Le Roy Ostrander High School in 1968. While in high school
he was the manager for the boys football, wrestling and basketball teams.
He attended and graduated from Mankato State University with a
Masters in Agra Business after 5 years of schooling. Kerry also
attended the University of Minnesota Waseca for 1 ½ years. He loved
cooking, farming and gardening, working with his dad on the farm in
the summer and attended college in the winter. He served as the President
of the Jr. Farm Bureau for several years. While attending school in Mankato
he worked as a ward clerk at the hospital and at the post office there.
In 1973 Kerry was in a car accident and received brain damage, he was
able to come back a long way from his injuries. He was never married.
Kerry was a life long member of the Methodist Church and was a good
Christian.
Kerry is survived by his parents Darrell and Doris Derry of Le Roy,
Minnesota and his siblings; Deborah (Robert) Hofner of Ostrander,
Minnesota, Roger (Lynne) Derry of New Hampton, Iowa, Rick (Kim) Derry
of Rose Creek, Minnesota, Randy (Mary) Derry of Spring Valley, Wisconsin,
Darla (Dave) Schroeder of Fairview Heights, IL and Dawn (Evan) Woller of
Merrill, Wisconsin. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces
nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday February 11, 2014
at the United Methodist Church in Chester, Iowa with the Rev. Melanie
Greengo officiating. Burial will be in the Le Roy Cemetery. Visitation

Bruce Orke, age 65, of LeRoy, Minnesota, passed away Monday, February 17,
2014 at his home.
Bruce Jon Orke was born August 7, 1948 to Norman and Dorothy (Jensen)
Orke in Austin, Minnesota. He graduated from LeRoy High School in 1967.
On May 11, 1968, Bruce was united in marriage to Mary Ellen McDonald
in LeRoy, and they later divorced. In the summer of 1968, Bruce enlisted
into the Army, and he was a Vietnam Veteran. After his discharge from
the military on April 30, 1984, Bruce moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and
worked as a boating mechanic. From Sioux Falls, he moved to Alabama
and worked as a mechanic. Later, he moved back to Sioux Falls and
continued his education at Southeast Vo-Tech and studied electronics.
While in Sioux Falls, he married Karen Seeley on April 11, 1987, and
they later divorced. After school, he moved to Rochester and was
employed by IBM. Bruce later moved back to the LeRoy area, where he
always considered home. Bruce was an active member of the LeRoy
Legion, Vietnam Veterans MC Club, Rod and Gun Club, delivered flowers
for Ed's Floral, enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and classiccars, doing genealogy research, traveling, and taking care of his
mother before her passing. Family was very important to Bruce. He
loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Bruce is survived by his daughters, Kim Orke of Byron, Minnesota, Nicki
Orke of Rochester, Minnesota, and step-daughter, Karissa Seeley of LeRoy,
Minnesota; grandchildren, David, Crystal, Christopher, Riley, Tyler, and
Maverick; and his siblings, Janice (Dave) Sween of Pine Island, Minnesota
and Craig Orke of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Cyril Roy Rathbun 1927-2014

Obituary--
Cyril R. Rathbun, age 86, of Spring Valley, Minnesota died Saturday at the
Grand Meadow Care Center in Grand Meadow.
Cyril Roy Rathbun was born September 5, 1927 in Washington, Minnesota, to
Perry and Minnie (Forrester) Rathbun. He attended school through the
8th grade and joined the United States Navy serving in the Seabees
during World War II. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After his
discharge he returned to the area and was united in marriage to Rosella
Mae Smith Riddle on May 19, 1947. After their marriage they farmed in
the Spring Valley and Chatfield area. Cyril also drove truck for OA
Stocke of Rochester and for Kark Rendering until retiring in 1988.
Cyril was a member of the Stewartville American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosella Rathbun of Grand Meadow;
eight children: Joan (Loren) Lex of Spring Valley, Minnesota, Robert (Alita)
Rathbun of Huron, South Dakota, Cyril Charles (Audrey) Rathbun of Rochester,
Minnesota, Steven (Vicki) Rathbun of Rochester, Minnesota, Cyrilla (Michael)

June 4, 2014 at the American Legion Post #0164 in Stewartville, Minnesota

Estel "Dean" Shirbroun 1929-2014
October 3, 1929 -- April 28, 2014 (age 84)
Obituary--
Dean Shirbroun, age 84, of Le Roy, Minnesota, died Monday April 28,
2014 at his home.
Dean was born October 3, 1929 in Coon Rapids, Iowa, to Estel and Myrtle
(Boone) Shirbroun. He attended and graduated from Coon Rapids High School
in 1947. In 1950 he moved with his family to a farm in Le Roy where he
farmed with his parents until entering the United States Army in March
of 1953. He was stationed in Greenland and served as a Radar Operator
until 1955. He continued to serve in the reserves until 1961.
Dean was united in marriage to Patricia J. Brusky at the Little Brown
Church in Nashua, Iowa, on January 24, 1976. She passed away April 20,
2004. Dean farmed with his father for many years and continued to farm
up until his retirement in 2006. He was also a Pioneer Seed Corn Salesman
for many years. He enjoyed reading, traveling and doing puzzles.
Dean is survived by two sisters, Marjorie Mossyge and Mary (Virgil)
Speer both of Le Roy and a half brother Marvin (Millie) Hartley of Reno,
Nevada along with many nieces and nephews and a special friend Shirley
Brownlow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat, one nephew
Jesse, and a niece Alyssa.
Funeral services for Estel "Dean" Shirbroun will be held at 1:00 P.M.
Saturday May 3, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Le Roy, with the
Rev. Brian Thiel officiating. Burial will take place in the Le Roy Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. Friday May 2, 2014 at the
First Presbyterian Church in Le Roy.

Minar Otis Therneau 1925-2014
June 1, 1925 -- April 19, 2014 (age 88)
Obituary--
Minar O. Therneau, age 88, of Spring Valley died Saturday April 19,
2014, at his home.
Minar Otis Therneau was born on June 1, 1925, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to
Otis and Emily (Bussell) Therneau. He lived with his parents and his brother
Glode on their ranch located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains until the
age of 2. They then moved to Grand Meadow, Minnesota, and settled on his mother's
family farm. He was a part of the local Methodist church from his youth,
baptized by Rev. L. D. Williams and confirmed by Rev. Stanley Williams.
He graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1943 and continued to
farm with his father and brother.
He married Dorothea L Curtis on March 1, 1952, and they lived in Grand
Meadow until purchasing a larger farm in Spring Valley in 1963. He was a
scout leader, and served in many positions in the Methodist Church in both
Grand Meadow and Spring Valley. He was a fifty-plus year member of the
Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He enjoyed playing cards,
listening to music on his reel-to-reel, and was an avid letter writer to
family and friends. He also loved discovering the many different ways to
drive to Whitewater State Park for family picnics.
As he once said - My love for the land and the earth cannot be adequately
expressed - it has always been there as a young child and has never left me
- which is why he was close to the land his entire life. He was a farmer
for more than 50 years. Even after retiring, he still enjoyed the drives
to look at crops and motoring his wheelchair down the road to visit
neighbors. He lived a full and productive life and will be truly missed
by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothea; two sons, Terry (Carol)
of Rochester and Kirk of Spring Valley; four daughters, Judith Hall of
Hudson, Wisconsin, Patti (Michael) Anderson of Clear Lake Iowa, Karen
(Reed) Oeltjen of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, and Tracy (Sergio) Guaman of
Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four
great-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, his brother,
one son-in-law, and daughters Tricia Jo, Jill, and Debbie.
Memorial services for Minar O. Therneau will be held at 1:30 P.M.
Friday April 25, 2014 at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley
with the Rev Beth Perez officiating. Burial will take place in the Grand
Meadow Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M.
Thursday at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue for
one hour prior to the service at the church.

Betty L. Jones, 84, of Manchester passed away, April 13, 2014 at
St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the
Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota, with an additional visitation one
hour prior to services at the Hindt Funeral Home. Visitation will be from
3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m, Friday, April 18 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral
Home and Cremations Services in Manchester. Burial will be in the Chester
Hill Cemetery in LeRoy, Minnesota.
Betty was born December 28, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of
Truman and Isabel (Cabe) Wofford. On April 16, 1960, Betty was united
in marriage to Roger Jones at Jonesboro, Georgia.
Betty loved music, enjoyed playing her guitar and golfing. Her main
motivation was traveling to Oregon to visit her son, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband, Roger; one son, Wayne (Robin) Jones of
Portland, Oregon; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters.

Duane M. Schumann 1930-2014
July 3, 1930 -- August 29, 2014 (age 84)
Obituary--
A celebration of life for Duane M. Schumann will be held on Tuesday
September 2, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Le Roy Evangelical Lutheran Church
in Le Roy, Minnesota with the Reverend Herman Bakker officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of service at the Church.
His body was cremated.
Duane M. Schumann, age 84, of Le Roy, died Friday, August 29, 2014 at
his home.
Mr. Schumann was born on July 3, 1930 near Varina, Iowa to Lamont and
Edna (Gerjets) Schumann. He graduated from Fairview Consolidated School
near Alta, Iowa. Duane married Dona L. Watros on August 6, 1951 at the
Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minnesota. He served in the United
States Navy from 1950-1954 -- during the Korean War. Duane operated the
Co-op Oil Station in Le Roy from 1955-1969 and retired from the Le Roy
Farmer's Co-Op as Credit Manager in 1992.
He served on the Le Roy Fire Department, the Le Roy City Council for
seven years and as Mayor for two years. Duane was an original volunteer
on the Le Roy Ambulance Service. He also served on the Le Roy-Ostrander
School Board, the Le Roy Lutheran Church council, and the Root River Country
Club Board of Directors. Duane was a member of the Le Roy Legion for over
50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, and spending time
with family and friends.
Duane is survived by his wife Dona of Le Roy; three sons: Kim (Susan)
Schumann, Terry Schumann, and Anthony Schumann; a daughter, Marlene
(Steven) Boyd; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his
sister, Geneva (Curtis) Hamilton of Adams, Minnesota.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Virgil and Ramon.
The family is deeply grateful for the support and tender care provided
by members of the Mayo Clinic Health System — Austin Hospice.

Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, April 11, 2014 at
the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy, Minnesota and one hour prior to the
service at church.
Norma Rich, age 92, of LeRoy, Minnesota passed away Monday evening,
April 7, 2014 in her home at Wildwood Grove, LeRoy, Minnesota with her
family by her side.
Being the oldest daughter of Robert and Hazel (Norman) Hall, Norma
was born April 10, 1921 on a farm in rural Cumro, Nebraska. She attended
school in Custer County through the 8th grade and graduated from Ord High
School in 1939. After high school, Norma worked for Ord Photo Shop.
On January 29, 1941, Norma was united in marriage to Harold H. Rich
in Ord, Nebraska. They moved to Keurnne, IL and worked for a farmer for
six months. In December of 1942, the couple moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 1942, they had a son, Ronald, and in 1945, they had a daughter, Diane.
In 1947, the family moved to LeRoy, Minnesota, and Norma lived there for the rest
of her life. She and her husband owned several businesses in LeRoy and
lastly a grain elevator in Chester, Iowa.
She was the bookkeeper. In 1978, they sold their elevator business to
their son, Ron and daughter-in-law, Sharon. Then Norma and Harold wintered
in Mesa, Arizona, for 20 years until Harold's health wouldn't allow it.
Norma was a member of the Presbyterian Church in LeRoy for over 50 years.
She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 50 years. In
2001, Harold and Norma moved into Wildwood Grove. They both enjoyed living
there. Norma enjoyed playing cards, having flowers on her patio, and helping
out in the garden in the backyard. She will be missed very much by her
family.
She leaves to mourn her son, Ronald (Sharon) Rich of LeRoy, Minnesota; daughter,
Diane of Apple Valley, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-grandson; and sister, Carol Simpson of Loneland, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hazel, husband,
Harold, son-in-law, Rex (Rusty) Domino, and sister, Gail Dawork.

A visitation for Robert J. "Bob" Eastvold will be held from 4-7 P.M. on
Wednesday March 26, 2014 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Le Roy. Minnesota.

Bob Eastvold, age 73, of Le Roy died Friday March 21, 2014 of Congestive
Heart Failure at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams.
Robert Julius Eastvold was born December 06, 1940 in Austin, Minnesota to
Leslie and Margaret (Lappin) Eastvold. He attended and graduated from
Le Roy High School in 1958. Bob started working for Le Roy Products
Corp. in 1957 and following his graduation in 1958 he worked there full
time. He was united in marriage to Georgia Peterson at the Le Roy Lutheran
Church on April 16, 1966. In 1976 Bob went to work for IBM in Rochester
where he worked until March of 1995. Following his retirement from IBM
he drove as a substitute milk hauler for Dohlman Milk Hauling and drove
school bus for the Le Roy – Ostrander School District. (His Favorite Job.
He loved the kids and they loved him) and he delivered flowers for Ed's
Floral in Le Roy. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Georgia of Le Roy, sons; Aaron (Tamara Carlson)
Eastvold of Austin and Nathan (Lara) Eastvold of Jacksonville, NC, three
grandchildren Cody, Rebecca and Landon and 2 sisters Joni (Tom) Wehrenberg
of Le Roy and Joy (Bert) Noe of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his
parents Leslie and Margaret, a brother Timmy, his grandparents and several
aunts and uncles.

Everett Charles Kinter 1929-2014

Everett Kinter, age 84, of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of LeRoy,
Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Samaritan Bethany in
Rochester, Minnesota.
Everett Charles Kinter was born July 26, 1929 in LeRoy, Minnesota,
to William Clayton and Barbara (Staley) Kinter. He attended Chester #7
country school through the 8th grade and was the first in his family to
go onto high school, graduating from LeRoy High School with the class of
1947. He married Maxine Johnson on August 28, 1948 at the LeRoy Lutheran
Church. They lived and worked in Minneapolis until moving back to the
LeRoy area in late 1949.
Everett was active in 4-H and Boy Scouts as a youth and liked to play
softball and sing in various groups and quartets. After moving back to
LeRoy, he began a career of over 40 years of working in floor covering.
He also owned and managed a root beer barrel for several years. He sang
with the Forte Milers Barbershoppers for many years. He was always busy
with church activities: choir, Sunday school teacher, usher, on the
council, and served a term as church president. Everett was a member of
the LeRoy Lutheran Church, and later while living in Rochester, Minnesota,
he attended Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Community activities were also a
priority: Boy Scout leader, serving as a fireman, council member, and
mayor of LeRoy for 10 years. The Shooting Star Trail was initiated
during this time.
Everett's love of fishing and hunting went back to his youth when he
brought home food for the table. Annual fishing trips with his fishing
buddies made for wonderful memories in his later years. There were many
camping trips with his family through the years.
Everett is survived by his three children: Mark (Kris) Kinter of
Spring Park, Minnesota, Karen Barth of LeRoy, Minnesota, and Kevin Kinter
of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Ryan (Sara) Kinter of Seattle,
Washington, and Amber, Matthew, and Kaylee Kinter of Las Vegas, Nevada;
great-grandchildren, Spencer and Kelsey Kinter of Seattle, Washington;
and his long time partner, Marlene Davis and her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; grandson,
Kyle Kinter; brothers: Leo, LuVern, and Dale; and a sister, Deloris.

Stanley L. Munson 1954-2015
January 25, 1954 - December 17, 2015 (age 61)
Obituary-
Memorial services for Stanley L. Munson will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday,
December 22, at Marshall Lutheran Church rural Adams, Minnesota, with the
Rev. Jeremey Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M.
on Monday, December 21, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow.
Stanley Munson, age 61, of Elkton died Thursday, December 17, at his
home surrounded by family.
He was born January 25, 1954, in Estherville, Iowa to John and Mary Ann
(Kruse) Munson. While still in school Stanley's family moved to a farm
near Elkton. Stanley was a 1972 graduate from Elkton High School and
went on to attend Austin Junior College. He married Mary Krull in 1976
to this union Mike and Suzan were born; Stanley and Mary later divorced.
Stanley had a love for the land. He grew up farming and as he grew older
always had a bountiful vegetable garden.
On October 22, 1994, Stanley married Sandy (Engelhart) Mundfrom in
Adams, Minnesota. Through the Local #405 Stanley worked for various companies.
His last assignment was at Knutson as Labor Foreman. Stanley worked in
construction starting in 1987 and retired in 2011. July of 2011, he was
diagnosed with metastatic medullary thyroid cancer. After several
successful treatments, Stanley decided to end treatments in September
2015. With the care and support of his wife and family, Stanley was able
to stay at home until the end.
Stanley's pride and joy was his grandchildren, he loved being called
"Papa" by them. He liked taking them for rides in the pontoon on Lake
Sakata in Waterville, Minnesota. Stanley also enjoyed spending the last
three winters in LaFeria, Texas with his parents and Sandy.
Surviving Stanley are his parents John and Mary Ann of Elkton, Minnesota;
his wife Sandy of Elkton; the children: Mike (Jodi) Munson of Rose Creek,
Minnesota, Connor and Claire; Suzi Munson of LeRoy, Minnesota, Evelyn and Draven;
Eric (Tiffany) Mundfrom of Spring Valley, Minnesota, Hunter, Noah, and Esme; and
Amanda (Kern) Hall of Spring Valley, Minnesota, Olivia, Eva, Ruby, and Willow,
sisters Barbara (Jaimie) Rodberg of Raleigh, NC, Linda (Dave) Dickie of
Lake City, Minnesota, and Jean Munson of Elkton, a brother Mark (Nancy) Munson
of Kasson, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Jolene (Munson) Keiffer.

Rosanne Walerak, age 60, of Rose Creek, died Friday, December 18, 2015
at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her loving family.
Rosanne was born June 20, 1955 in Carroll, Iowa to Walter and Bernice
Pudenz. She was united in marriage to Robert Walerak at St. Peters
Catholic Church in Rose Creek 36 years ago.
Rosanne enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, and spending time with
family-especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Walerak, Rose Creek, Minnesota;
four children, Michael (Joni) Walerak, Zumbrota, Minnesota, Sara Walerak,
Kasson, Minnesota, Amy (Joshua) Hanzlicek, Medford, Minnesota, Joseph
(Alexis Peck) Walerak, Hayfield, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Riley,
Bentley, Mya, and Kora; six siblings, Mary Lee (Terry) Kueper, Rochester,
Minnesota, Janet (Ron) Henry, Zumbrota, Minnesota, Dale (Therese) Pudenz,
West Salem, Wisconsin, Karen (Harold) Schlichter, Rochester, Minnesota,

2015 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek with Father Swaminatha
Pothireddy officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 pm on Monday at Mayer
Funeral Home and also one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Rose Creek.

Tyler Lee Burkey 1992-2015
Obituary
Tyler Lee Burkey, age 23, of Austin, Minnesota died Friday afternoon,
December 18, 2015, at his home in Austin. Tyler was born April 2, 1992,
in Austin, Minnesota the son of Timmy Lee and Kris (Dahlback) Burkey. He
attended school in Austin, graduating in 2010. While attending Austin
High School, Tyler played football, and participated in weight lifting.
He also enjoyed playing basketball with his friends.
Tyler is survived by his parents, Timmy and Kris Burkey; brother, Treigh
Burkey and sister, Tatem Burkey all of Austin, Minnesota; maternal
grandfather, Robert Dahlback of Austin; aunts and uncles, James (Betsy)
Burkey of Fairmont, Lori (Tom) Martin of Pine Island and Darci (Tim) Martin
of McHenry, Illinois; first cousins, Ashley, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Isaac,
Jordan, Brooklyn, Blake, Ethan and Ashley; also many other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Beverly (Bawek)
Dahlback and his paternal grandparents, Dillen and Lois (Brady)Burkey.
The Burkey Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Tuesday,
December 29, 2015, at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin. A private family

Maurice Stanley Edge, Jr. 1926-2015
Obituary--
Maurice Stanley Edge, Jr., age 88 of Austin, died Thursday, December
17, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System Austin.
He was born December 31, 1926 in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Maurice
and Louise Albertine Caroline (Tesch) Edge, Sr. Maurice attended country
school in the Racine area before going to work for the Minnesota State
Highway Department. He retired in 1991 after 26 years.
On May 19, 1952, Maurice and Laura Bjork were married in Mapleview,
Minnesota. Laura passed away in February 1990. Maurice married Jean
Lynch in 1999. Jean passed away in 2010. Maurice served his country in
the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-1954 during the Korean War. In his leisure
time, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage, attending auctions and visiting
with family and friends. He especially loved going to his brothers’ farms.
Maurice is survived by his son Doane Edge and his girlfriend, Renée of
Mapleview, Minnesota, his daughter Kay (Richard) Weaver of Dexter,
Minnesota, and his daughter Sharon (Harold) Willis of Brownsdale,
Minnesota; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and
sisters Ruth Jensen of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Charles Edge of Stewartville,
Minnesota, James (Marion) Edge of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, Shirley Bethake
of Denver, Colorado, David Edge of Stewartville, Minnesota, Jerry (Joyce)
Hendricks of Mott, North Dakota, Gene (Frieda) Hendricks of Mason City, Iowa, Jay
Hendricks of Rockwell City, Iowa; Jean's family Jim (Ann) Lynch and Gary

He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Louise Edge, Sr.,

Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Rev. Rex Edge officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 30 at Worlein Funeral
Home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be
in Grandview Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 91
and V.F.W. Post 1216. Memorials can be directed to the Edge family.
