Ira E. Padden was born in September 1858, in Mower County, Minnesota to Ira W. Padden and Mary Ann Wilson. His father was born 1824 in New York State and his mother 1834 in Ontario, Canada. His parents were early pioneers of Mower County coming to Minnesota from Ontario, Canada early 1856.
He married Mira Streeter, who was born 1858 in Illinois to William Streeter and Almeda Tillotson. The Streeter family resided in Boone County, Illinois for many years. Mira came to Minnesota about 1883 and married to Ira shortly afterwards.
They had three daughters: Ethel A. Padden was born 1885, and died in 1886, buried in Oakland Cemetery, Austin, Mower County, Minnesota; Edith Padden, born 6 March 1888, in Minnesota, and died 9 August 1966, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, buried in Oakland Cemetery, Austin, Minnesota; and A. Elsie Padden, born: 15 May 1890, in Minnesota, and died 10 November 1961, Hennepin County, Minnesota, buried in Acacia Park, Mendota Heights, Dakota County, Minnesota.
Mira Streeter Padden died on 24 November 1917 in Hennepin County and was buried in Oakland Cemetery, Austin. Ira E. Padden died on 7 September 1949, in Hennepin County and was buried next to his wife.
Edith Padden, the daughter of Ira E. and Mira Padden, married Frederick Williams Gillies who was born 25 December 1885, Ontario, Canada. He was self employed as a general contractor. They were married prior to 1912 and later divorced. A son was born to them: Stephen Padden Gillies, born 17 June 1927, Hennepin County, Minnesota; and died 12 January 1992, Hennepin County. Edith was a school teacher.
Elsie Padden, the youngest daughter of the Padden’s, married Rev. Frank Williams Sanderson who was a clergyman for the Methodist Church. He was born 13 September 1886, Minneapolis, Minnesota; died 29 March 1977, Rice County, Minnesota and buried Acacia Park Minneapolis. He was the son of Thomas A. Sanderson and Jennie M. Williams. Elsie and Rev. Sanderson had two children: Ira Padden Sanderson, born 27 November 1920, Minnesota and died 24 June 1999, Georgia. His residence at the time of his death was Atlanta, Georgia; and Edith Mary Sanderson, born 31 Marcy 1923, Mower County, Minnesota.
