Biographical Sketch of

Jacob S. Decker

Jacob S. Decker was born in Flatbrookville, Sussex County, N.Y., Oct. 14, 1831. Came to Minnesota March 5, 1856. He is president of the Mower County Old Settlers' Association; also of the Austin Creamery Association, and a life deacon at the First Congregational church, Austin. He is a charter member of the same organization since its organization in 1857; and is justice of the peace in Austin township.

Mr. Decker came from New Jersey in 1855, to Iowa, and from that state to Minnesota, in 1856, by ox team. He pre-empted NW 1/4 section 1, township 102, range 18 west, April 1, 1856. Decker married Mary Ann H. Smith in February, 1852.
